My brother works in the craft brewery business, so whenever we travel we love checking out different breweries. We were really excited to find this brewery as the location is so cute in San Jose del Cabo. We loved the outdoor patio seating and were immediately greeted by the host upon arrival. However, the quality of our experience was diminished by the poor service we experienced.
A server didn’t come over to our table for nearly 40 minutes after we arrived (and that was after multiple times we got up and told the host or tried flagging someone down). The server who eventually came over to us had been serving all the tables next to us that whole time but didn’t bother to even come by our table during that whole time. When our server finally did come and we were giving our order, he turned away from us while we were mid-sentence ordering and started chit-chatting with his buddies at another table. After such a long wait for him to come to our table, this felt like a very inappropriate time for him to be catching up with his buddies.
When our drinks arrived, the server accidentally brought an extra drink we didn’t order so we told him and he grabbed it and took a sip from it and walked away. When we got our bill later on, that extra drink we didn’t order was on our bill. Not a great ending to an already frustrating experience.
The beers themselves were high quality. My brother and his girlfriend really enjoyed the IPAs, and I loved the Fresh Razz beer cocktail (it was a raspberry beer base with some mango and mint leaves added to it). I do recommend the beers and would give this place another try, but the server experience we had was really unfortunate and took away from the...
Read moreMy wife and I first visited here almost two years ago and loved everything about Baja Brewing on that visit. We had tacos, tortilla soup, and copious amounts of beer, plus the service was outstanding.
Unfortunately, I can't say the same for this visit. We ordered the same food as last time (because it was outstanding), and purposefully budgeted time to visit because the experience was so great during our last visit.
This visit, the tacos were terrible. We had a beef, a chicken, and a shrimp. The protein in them all was so dry and overcooked, that we didn't finish them. The tortilla soup was pretty bland. It wasn't the same did we had last time.
Beer was ok, nothing special. They have a menu of experimental beers that I really wanted to try, but was told they only sold them in growlers and I couldn't get a pint. That was very disappointing.
Or bartender want friendly at all, took his time getting beers to us (he preferred to wash glasses in front of us rather than all if we wanted more beer). No smiles, no friendliness, but was very chatty with his coworkers.
The atmosphere is pretty cool, with neat logo artwork
Overall, the entire experience has changed for the worst since our last visit. We're disappointed, as there were two places we wanted to visit for food on our vacation, this being one of them. I didn't think we'll be returning on our next visit.
Overall, there are better places to eat, better beer to drink, and friendlier staff to hang...
Read moreWhile Baja Brewing Company has potential, my recent visit left room for improvement in several areas.
Food & Drink The food menu consists of basic bar fare, but unfortunately, it lacks the taste and creativity one might expect. However, the brewery shines when it comes to its beer selection, which was genuinely enjoyable.
Atmosphere The venue offers live music, which is a plus. However, the seating arrangement could be more thoughtful. As a solo diner, I was seated at a table rather than the bar, which limited opportunities for socializing.
Service This is an area where Baja Brewing Company could significantly enhance the customer experience:
Attentiveness: Staff members frequently blocked the view of the band, and there was a noticeable lack of attention to detail. Order Accuracy: My side order was initially forgotten, and when it arrived, it was incorrect (curly fries instead of pub fries). Personal Touch: The service felt impersonal and mechanical, leaving me feeling overlooked and undervalued as a customer.
Speakeasy On a positive note, the attached speakeasy was a highlight of the visit, offering a markedly better service experience.
Recommendation While I wouldn't recommend Baja Brewing Company for dining, it's worth visiting for the quality beer and the speakeasy experience. The management could greatly improve the overall experience by focusing on staff training, particularly in areas of customer engagement and...
