I went to cancun many times, and this time, we wanted to not do the all-inclusive resort. We stayed at a luxurious Airbnb. I'm so glad we did to experience a better feel of Cancun. We shopped here 3 times in 2 weeks that we stayed. It does cost a lot more than some of the grocery stores , but that cause it in a tourist area. Vs Downtown, everything would be a lot cheaper. We went here repeatedly because it was closer to our rental. They literally have everything you need here. Prices are close to what you pay in the States, maybe 10 percent cheaper at least. We were okay with prices as we know we are paying for convenience. They have amazing bakery upstairs, and most of the dessert are like European style. Reminds you getting sweets in z France. It's not too sweet, but so yummy. They even have a mini food court and you can enjoy a meal after shopping. Wine and alcohol selection are great here! They even have international food and seasoning if you plan on cooking. We literally filled our carts every time we went. Was smart enough to bring shopping bags. If you don't you will have to buy their bags to put your food in. They cost about $1.25 a bag. It is a big one, so they will make your food fit as much as possible. Tip: Shopping here is actually cheaper than any Walmart in Cancun. Walmart will actually cost you 25-50 percent more than this grocery store or even Soriano. We had a Soriano walking distance to our actually rental. We chose to uber to $10 ride Chedraui just because it had so much more to choose from and was cheaper by half than...
Read moreThe best grocery store in the Cancun Hotel Zone. The store has ground level parking, free with purchase and within 3hrs of entering (have the cashier scan your parking stub when checking out). The main level of shopping is where you can find your in the sun essentials such as sunscreen and aloe. You will also be able to find all of your dry goods and prepackaged snacks. On this level they also have a small Farmacia area with basics.
The second level (third in the building) has fresh produce, wine & spirits, frozen goods, and a dining area where you can get sushi, pizza, and other basic items. There are no any vegetarian or vegan options for in store dining so that is a bit disappointing, but they do have a lot of diary free options in the refrigerated and frozen areas of the store.
The escalators are magnetic and assist with holding your cart or trolly in place while navigating up or down.
Single use plastic bags are no longer legal in Mexico so be sure you bring your own shopping bag, but if you forget, they do offer two different reusable shopping bag options for purchase. All of the employees are kind, helpful, and welcoming.
If you have never been to Mexico or the Hotel Zone before, be aware everyone will try to sell you something. At the top of the escalator that will lead you back to the ground level for the sidewalk or parking, there is a counter/booth. Here they will stop you to talk to you about your receipt, it is just a way for them to get you to stop and try selling you on a tour of some sort. Just say no gracias and...
Read moreGreat place to shop! Negotiate your price with a cab driver to get there. Not far from the Hotel Zone, and much MUCH better than going to the Walmart in town. You enter the store shopping area via an escalator from the ground level parking area. This store has groceries, but so much more! On the first floor there is an entire section that will meet your warm weather vacation needs. It's here, if you want swimsuits and summer outer wear and souvenirs at a reasonable price . There are pool toys and inflatables, swimming/water gear too. The center section of the store on the first floor is dedicated to all of your grocery needs along with a great selection of beers and other beverages. There is also a cosmetics/Health and Beauty section on this level. On the second floor you will find finer wines, liquor and spirits. This floor also has a huge produce/ meat, dairy ,seafood and bakery section. There is a nice dining/food court area that offers a tasty food selection along with sushi. Be sure to have extra change/cash to tip the volunteer senior citizen grocery bagger at the checkout. They assist the cashier. And please, take google translate so you can show store associates your questions in Spanish. because you are in Mexico and (NEWS FLASH) not everyone speaks English. This is a fun shopping experience. (Be alert to avoid the a few tour sales people near the...
