My daughter and her boyfriend were at this mall last Friday. She needed to use the restroom really badly. The women's was closed, so she went in the men's restroom. Her boyfriend guarded the door so no one would come in. While they were in there, a security guard forced his way in. He proceeded to tell her she was breaking the rules and she needed to pay him $200. She was crying, saying she was sorry and she only went in there because she had to go really bad and the women's was closed. He would not let them leave and kept insisting they had to pay $200(american). They were terrified, and she was crying histerically. All they had was $12 cash. She finally told him to call the police because that's all she has and couldn't pay him. At that point, he yelled at her more and finally let them leave. She said one male guard was doing the talking, another male guard was guarding the door, and their were 2 female guards outside the restroom close by. This is obviously a scam. Beware of the crooked security guards!! This is downright awful and ruined their vacation. I hope the mall investigates...
Read moreAn ok plaza with numerous shops, restaurants, and clubs. Pro tip, I wasn’t able to order an Uber from this plaza (possibly because it’s blocked to promote high-priced taxi services) but after walking 3 minutes south towards an Oxxo and Circle K, I was able to order an Uber no problem. On the day of our visit, the escalator to/from the second level was out of service and blocked off, meaning that a large number of patrons, ourselves included, needed to queue and wait for the elevator, of which there was only one. I didn’t see any stairs as an option, though presumably there are stairs somewhere in case of emergency. That said, we waited for about 10 minutes to use the elevator as there was a lineup of other people waiting...
Read moreA good place to start your afternoon in Cancun, but you need to be aware of all the business trying to scam people if they detect you're a tourist.
They won't respect the promotions or published prices if you don't ask in advance... Example:
This place (Cotorritos) advertises $1 dollar beers and $1 dollar snacks. But once you're in, they will tell you those beers are out, and the available options are twice or thrice the price. Request to talk to the manager and they will suddenly be available again, but at the cost of the worse service you can get, because suddenly you're a cheap bstrd who will for sure leave a bad tip.
In any case, be always alert, ask in advance for the price of what...
