U.S. Consular Agency — Attraction in Cancún

To: Dear U.S. Representative to Mexico, Hello,

My wife and I traveled from Taiwan to DC, USA to attend our son’s Master in Finance graduation ceremony in DC. We and our American son arrived in Cancun, Mexico on May 22, 2023. After we checked into the hotel, we drove around in a rented car. , On the road, I met two Mexican policemen driving a police car and stopped us. They held our IDs in their hands and threatened us with asking for money. They even offered us $300, otherwise it would be bad for us. These two policemen Holding my American son’s driver’s license, we even asked us to give them cash. Unexpectedly, we came to Cancun, Mexico with anticipation for the first time. It turned out that the police in Cancun, Mexico, were more terrifying than the mob, because they drove police cars on the road. Carrying batons and pistols and threatening in front of the main road like this, is it not safe for Americans to come to Cancun, Mexico? Is it impossible for Americans to manage the annual, monthly and daily tourist money payments and government taxes in this place? In this case, Americans are always at risk of personal safety when they come to Cancun,...

Not very helpful. This place should say "we only good at processing emergency passport thats all" cos this office thats the only thing they can do. Other concerns, or documents needed even a piece of letter from them they wont even consider or try to help despite of begging it was emergency and have a flight later that same day! Nobody attended to us but the security guard who barely speak English  using his Google translator! No one even consider of letting us in to speak with someone and have a proper conversation who speak and understand English. Its riduiculus and lazy how they relay the message to you thru the security guard at the entrance who cant speak English. Dont waste your time here and go directly to US Embassy...

Made an appointment online for my newborn child to get the U.S. passport. Right away when we got there we got rejected. Super rude lady told us to leave without letting us to ask a single question. I tried to ask if I had the correct form, documents, etc and she just told me "leave, I am not even going to look at that, if you need anything look up the website blah blah blah"... If you don't do such processing there, why was this even an option for an appointment? When I asked that question, lady just rolled her eyes and kept on telling us to leave.

Wasted whole week for nothing and hopefully lady that works there gets fired ASAP...
