Read moreAt first glance this really seems like it could have been a great place but the fact remains that the cigars are extremely overpriced. Not sure if it's just a greedy merchant or greedy taxation but regular production cigars are two times the cost of Habanos SA suggested retail and limited/rare releases are upwards of three times the normal MSRP.
For instance, normally a behike 52 only costs $32, here it costs $75. The only prices that seemed to be inline with the rest of the world were prices on some of the aged stock. Edmundo Dantes cigars were priced correctly as well as the Montecristo 80th. The regular production Punch 48 were moderately priced. Overall; if you're fine with paying the premiums go ahead and buy from here.
Overall the staff is nice but very pushy. They want you to spend as little time in the humidor and rely on impulse buys. I would have liked to have looked around more because it seemed like they didn't have many panatela format and petite/royal corona vitolas but I simply was not given that option and it really left a soar taste in my mouth.
Had this not been the legitimate LCDH sanctioned by Cuba, I would not have...
Read moreI love this place and it's a definite stop, usually more than once, any time I'm in Cancun. The cigars I've gotten have been perfect, humidity levels make them smoke just right.
And yes, the prices. They seem to have gone up since it's become easier for Americans to bring them back home, but they aren't too terrible. I wouldn't suggest buying a box there, but I'll generally go down with a few of my own and then pick up a 5 pack of monte #2s and maybe a couple of small gauge romeos to have for the time I'm down there. Expect to pay a lot, $20-40 for a good stick, higher for the premium cohibas, and they're a little cheaper if you buy 5.
The bar is excellent. David the bartender is rightfully called the mohito man. I don't even like mohitos but I get them every time they're that good. The bar itself has great decor, really old school cigar lounge and a nice deck outdoors where you can watch the sunset.
If you're in Cancun, I highly suggest hitting one of the local taco shops in the same strip then head over to Casa for a post lunch smoke and mohito. You will not be...
