We decided to eat here after reading several other reviews. We wanted to eat outside the resort and this place did not disappoint. We made reservations and arrived about 10 minutes early and they sat us right away. We wanted to sit outside but it was just too humid so we opted for inside seating which was awesome because the air conditioning lol and they raised the blinds so we had the perfect view of the sunset on the water. For our appetizer we had the Chicharrón‘s with guacamole served with handmade corn and flour tortillas. Very yummy. They also bring out an array of salsa’s and sauces which were all delicious including chili oil which was dynamite! And crispy corn tortillas. The tortillas are absolutely delicious! Not like the ones in the US! For our entrees I had the sea bass w/ fried capers, mashed potatoes and a table-side made Caeser salad. This dish was absolutely delicious. I would order this again. My husband had the ribeye tacos with cheese crust. He ate 4 of them and had corn on the Cobb as his side which was not served on a Cobb but in a bowl. He said his was delicious as well. They have every kind of alcohol so the drink menu is extensive with custom cocktails. We’re simple so I had a bottle of Pinot Grigio and the hubs had Dos Equis Amber on draft. The service was spectacular, we had 3 gentlemen assisting us. the pricing was on par with every other upscale restaurant we’ve been to so wasn’t surprised when we got the check. The only other thing I can say is that it would be helpful to speak Spanish here as there was somewhat of a language barrier but we don’t and managed just fine. Would come here again and again when in Cancun! 5...
Read moreThis was our second visit to La Buena Barra in Cancun, we were once again delighted by the experience. We found it by chance during our last trip, we were determined to return this trip.
Arriving for an early supper on a Wednesday evening, we found the restaurant pleasantly uncrowded, providing a welcome respite from the hot and humid weather outside. We were greeted warmly and promptly.
Our dining experience commenced with well-crafted cocktails that perfectly complemented our appetizers. I had the pleasure of trying the beef tongue taco, a rare find for me, and it did not disappoint. The preparation was impeccable, and the taste was exquisite. My husband opted for the mussels, and he thoroughly enjoyed his dish as well.
For our main courses, I indulged in the suckling pig while my husband savored the skirt steak. Both dishes were delicious and thoughtfully presented. The portions were generous to say the least, leading us to bring back the delightful leftovers to our hotel, where they served as a satisfying snack the following night.
A standout moment was when we discovered the house blend wine that beautifully complemented our suppers.
Throughout the evening, Manuel and Daniel skillfully attended to our needs. They struck the perfect balance of attentiveness without being overbearing. Our meal was well-paced, and our glasses were never left empty.
Overall, our second visit to La Buena Barra was just as delightful as the first, if not more so. With its delightful food, inviting ambiance, and attentive staff, it will be a must-visit destination for us next time we are...
Read moreWe really had high hopes for this place given the excellent reviews, but unfortunately it wasn’t the nice dinner we were hoping for. Food and cocktails were overall pretty good, but the quality of service got worse as the night went on. It started out great when things were less busy, but once the restaurant filled up we barely saw our waiter. At one point they cleared our plates and accidentally took my fork, and it took about 20 minutes to get someone’s attention to get a new one. Ordering more drinks was also nearly impossible with how hard it was to get our waiter’s attention. When we finished we asked for the check, waited for at least 30 minutes, and then had to ask for it again. What we expected to be a 1.5 hour to 2 hour outing turned into a 3 hour one. Slow service at a busy restaurant on a Friday night is understandable, but it almost felt like we were intentionally ignored in order to cater to bigger parties.
Things really went downhill when the bill finally came. We were charged for IVA, even though the menu said IVA was included in the prices. Asked the waiter if that would then be considered as the tip and he said no so we ended up tipping an additional 15% as well.
The lack of service and deceptive IVA issue ultimately soured the night for us. Didn’t feel like it was worth the money given the treatment we received, especially when there are so many similar restaurants to...
