I’m genuinely very excited to write this review! Two words: Cannot miss. Having tried multiple restaurants here in Cancun, this by far is the best one I’ve had and quite honestly, some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. First, when you walk in, you’re greeted with a stunning, waterfront, open air restaurant on the lagoon of Cancun. It is fun, elegant and perfectly pieced together. The staff went above and beyond for not just my table, but each table in my sight. Drinks were brought promptly, plates were removed immediately to make room and there was a great balance of checking in on us. I only tried one cocktail: the Ameterasu I believe but it was fantastic, well balanced, and great portion. We ordered the spicy edamames which were more flavorful than I’m accustomed to for edamame (usually just salt) but I was certainly wanting more. Next I received an A5 Wagyu skewer which was incredibly tender and flavorful. I was hesitant as the fat was present but relieved how it melted with the bite. Then came the main course: my wife and I split the Ryoshi roll, Tartufo Roll, and the Spider roll. All three were amazing but given that this restaurant receives fresh whole tuna Tuesdays and Saturdays and will prepare the cuts in front of the restaurant, I would say a roll with Tuna is mandatory so for this reason the Ryoshi or Tartufo were my favorites as well as just how perfectly prepared the Tuna was - lightly seared on one side. To end the night, we ordered the Banana Pie which had a serving size twice what I expected, balanced across each bite and a perfect way to end the meal. Now for the fun part, apparently multiple times through the week, they will have fire and acrobatic shows. Tonight, we were amazed by an unexpected fire show with two young ladies and one man twirling fire in their hands, up and down their spine and breathing fire out their mouth. It was an unexpected treat that continued to elevate this restaurant. So far, this is one not to miss. 10/10 and well done to Chef and the...
Read moreSo - we almost didn’t go here because of the review about the service - and boy would we have missed out!
First - to the service - it was among the best we’ve ever had. The waiter, manager and busboy were all super attentive.
The busboy quietly made sure our glasses were always full, that we had clean plates in between items, and that the table was clean! Wow!
The manager and waiter were attentive and gave great recommendations that we are so glad we listened to! My husband had the tuna sushimi - caught fresh and included 4 different parts of the tuna. I had the Black Cod cooked so perfectly it melted in my mouth and the cream corn risotto was the perfect compliment.
Our Teens wanted their favorite sushi rolls which were not on the menu but the chef’s were able to recreate wonderfully!
The finale was banana pie which was literally the best dessert I have ever had. They called it banana pie but it was more than that. Crispy and flaky Mexican cookies topped with ice cream, another cookie with fresh slices bananas and a banana crème and a hard sugar topping that they flamed at the table and caramel drizzled on top! It was presented by our 3 person serving staff and two of the Japanese dancers holding flares!
We were there early and as the night progressed there was a DJ and Japanese dancers performing on the side and stage - just amazing! They had this but it didn’t take away from the comfortable dining experience - just enhanced!
It was on the expensive side (not over the top) - yet so worth it! We might try and go back before we leave….at least for dessert!!
If you want great service, great flavors, a beautiful sunset view of the harbor, and a memorable experience in Cancun- we...
Read moreWow, it's hard to put into words just how good the food was here tonight. We started with the Edamame Robata which is edamame with their seasoning and truffle oil. Then came the Mushroom Gyoza that was freshly made and quite delicate and lovely. I followed with something I've never seen before which was a flight of sashimi tuna from different parts of the fish. It's called Sashimi Ronqueo. It's akami, toro, chutoro followed by kama turo. It's a tour of the tenderest parts of a tuna. Really to die for. I finished with my version of sushi dessert which is Ikura Nigiri which is salmon roe. A wonderfully subtle piece. My lovely wife had the Ryoshi Bowl. She says it was sublime with the dish practically melting in her mouth. My daughter and her partner had a roll and a bowl but other than their sounds of delight, my mind is unable to recall their exact order because of my delightful brain fog brought on by my tuna sashimi. We shall return. PS. They had just received a whole tuna while we ate. They are a thing of beauty. Go and see the photo in the Photos section. A big call out to Francisco, Mario and Carlos who took care of us. Very knowledgeable with excellent recommendations. 5 out or 5 stars. Highly recommended. PS. Choose the Veranda seating. Sitting by the water was very beautiful. PPS. Try the freshly made wasabi. It costs a bit but it's worth it. It was finely grated from the root at your table. Imagine you'd grown up on margarine and then had a taste of real butter for the first time. That's the difference between freshly grated wasabi and the green wasabi paste you'd normally...
