WOW!!!!!!!! I NEVER POSTED ANYTHING FOR ANY RESTAURANTS EVER, BUT TONIGHT MY FAMILY AND I TRIED THE EL FISHERMAN RESTAURANT IN THE HOTEL ZONE IN CANCUN. BESIDES THE FACT THAT THE FOOD IS POORLY SEASONED AND WAY BELOW AVERAGE IN TASTE, AFTER WE LEFT AND GOT BACK TO THE HOTEL WE NOTICED ON THE CREDIT CARD BILL THAT A 20% TIP WAS ADDED TO THE BILL WITHOUT ANY DISCLOSURE AND I ALREADY TIPPED THEM $20 ON TOP OF THAT! THE SERVER ODDLY TOOK THE BILL AND SHOWED EVERY ITEM IN IT THEN STATED THE PRICE. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF THE TIP, NOR COULD I SEE IT THE WAY HE HELD THE BILL. I ASKED FOR THE ITEMIZED COPY WHEN LEAVING AND HE TOLD ME THAT THE SIMPLE BILL OF SALE WAS MY COPY. THIS IS WHERE I NOTICED THE FINAL COST AND THEN THE “PROPINA”.
Soup: lacked acidity and salt Ceviche: too much acidity and was basically a cucumber tomato salad, little seafood. Guacamole: no seasoning and very bland Margarita: bland and lacking alcohol at almost $20 a glass-worst Salsa: tasted bland, store bought, just like the chips Tuna: fair Shrimp appetizer: was decent
COUPLE OF NIGHTS BEFORE THIS, WE ATE AT EL FISH FRITANGA, JUST 300 FT UP THE ROAD. THE FOOD IS 10 TIMES BETTER FOR THE SAME PRICING WE ACTUALLY ATE AT EL FISH FRITANGA ON PRIOR VACATIONS IN CANCUN AND WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN MORE THAN IMPRESSED WITH THEIR FOOD AND SERVICE. MARGARITAS ARE WONDERFUL. We have been coming to Mexico for over 15 years, both coasts, and I can assure you that 99.9% of people are extremely nice and honest. Unfortunately, tonight we met one of the 0.1% that leaves us with a very...
Read moreAs someone who expected a memorable New Year's Eve dinner at The Fisherman in Cancun, I'm compelled to share my deeply disappointing experience, hoping to save others from a similar misfortune.
Despite its ambiance by the port , The Fisherman fell drastically short of what was advertised. We were enticed by promises of a premium open bar, live saxophone music, champagne, and a special midnight celebration. Regrettably, none of these materialized to our expectation.
The biggest letdown was the food - it was mediocre at best. For a place that charges such high prices, the quality and preparation of the dishes were nowhere near justifiable. Moving onto the so-called 'Premium Open Bar,' it was nothing short of a sham. The cocktails were poorly mixed, with the lowest quality liquors you can imagine, barely discernible in the drinks.
Furthermore, the service was horrible. The waitstaff appeared clueless about their own drinks menu, contributing to an overall frustrating experience. This was not just our observation; the dissatisfaction was evident among other attendants as well.
Paying 5000 Mexican Pesos (over $400) for this experience was daylight robbery.
To others considering this place, think twice. Hopefully, this review can prompt some much-needed...
Read moreThis is mixed in terms of review. The food was pretty good, the octopus was a little bit overdone in my opinion, but the flavor was on point. I was highly impressed by the shrimp, some of the best I've had. I had a great experience up until I asked for some spicier salsa. I was looked at as if in shock and disbelief that I wanted spicier salsa that was provided. I felt they took it as an insult that they did not have a salsa or sauce that was spicy enough for my liking. I did not like that we were forced to pay in cash while other tables were paying with card, and I was given a watered down drink, I think on purpose, because later on that night I was throwing up and had travelers diarrhea. I asked if my friend if his drink was watered down, and he said it was not, my drink tasted like watered down lemonade. I was very taken back by the service I received because I wanted something spicier. I will recommend you eat elsewhere, and I high recommend you look into eating in downtown Cancun, the food was way more authentic...
