Proceed with caution and if you do book a tour, definitely just take the ferry vs booking one of the boats.

I normally don’t leave negative reviews but am feeling frustrated with the experience we had and feel as though others deserve to have a heads up.

We booked the catamaran and island tour and paid ahead of time for 4 people. Upon arriving, we sat at a picnic table and waited for the other passengers while the crew was visibly troubleshooting one of the motors. They finally told us that all of the other passengers had cancelled (smart people) and escorted us onto the boat. We chuckled at the duct tape holding the motor together when we walked by, not realizing what would happen next.

Once we got into the water, there was a SIGNIFICANT storm where we were being drenched the entire time with pouring rain and crashing waves (white caps and everything). The crew went below deck and made phone calls multiple times which added to us already feeling extremely uneasy about the circumstances. One of the motors failed and we were left to slowly maneuver through treacherous waves. We were in the storm on the water for over 90 minutes unsure of what was going to happen. Based on the movement of the boat, one of the passengers asked if we had turned around to go back to Playa Mujeres and the crew responded yes so we felt a bit better. We finally made it closer inland only to find out that this was just due to the language barrier and we had not turned around, we had only changed directions to attempt to get closer to the bank to get out of the extremely rough waters.

Upon arrival, I sent a message and asked to cancel the tour (as it was still pouring rain) and we were all feeling extremely uneasy (and even ill) after the experience we just had. There was no way we were getting back on the catamaran so we ended up paying MORE money to take the ferry back instead of the catamaran which clearly felt unsafe.

When we got back to the resort, we were informed that the harbor master had shut down all water activities that morning so it was clearly unsafe for us to be on the water (we were the ONLY boat making the trip, other boats that were even larger took their passengers back in after the scuba session). While we knew there was a 40% chance of rain in the forecast, we are obviously not local and are not aware of what storms in the area can do. It really felt like they were only concerned about getting their money and not what was in the best interest of the customers by taking us on the water and not communicating anything about the conditions.

They did offer to take us out another time, however, the overall experience did not leave a good taste in our mouth. We understand that services were rendered and didn’t ask for a full refund, just SOMETHING back due to not getting the golf cart tour and the poor experience on the catamaran + the additional money that we spent on the ferry to return in a safer manner. After all, we could’ve paid in cash/pesos at the time of the services vs ahead of time via PayPal. A partial refund was granted, which I absolutely appreciated, however, 2 weeks have gone by and nothing has been done. If you’re not going to refund anything, just say that. I’m glad others have had great experiences, maybe we just got unlucky but I definitely wish I would’ve spent more time researching the...

Have to give an amazing review for Isla Driver Robby and his entire staff-we booked a night time tour with the legendary Pancho-and unfortunately while on the island, one in our party suffered a medical emergency-😭 Pancho swarmed into action, helped with the medics and ambulance when they arrived, got us a wheelchair, went to the pharmacy, and was the most amazing translator in our time of need! Him and Robby reorganized our transports on the fly-and got us safely back to the ferry and found us a wheelchair and was able to navigate our boarding back to the mainland When they advertise they are family-they truly are! We have no idea what we would have done without Pancho and his quick thinking! Robby and his team are the best-and when they say their customers are “family for life” and their drivers “legendary” they truly mean it! We can’t thank our “crazy uncles” enough for taking care of us in our time of...

Would not recommend the catamaran offering with tour. Our group of 16 was given a boat that was too small for us and nothing like pictured. It was overcrowded and not safe. There was not a way to safely walk from front to the back for the kids (very small path without much to hold onto). We also weren’t provided at least half of what was on the advertisement, no water pad for kid’s to play on, no premium open bar (large beer bottles that were poured into cups to share was all we had) no local street snacks/tacos, 4 hour golf cart tour was less than 1.5 hours as where they took us for lunch took over 2 hours (not their fault necessarily but I wouldn’t partner with someone who takes so much time as we barely had a golf cart tour and time to enjoy playa Norte) no local beach bars, no local and handcrafted jewelry, and more. Very disappointing day and doesn’t seem like something they should...

Isla driver Robby is a must for you next trip to Isla Mujeres!! Our tour guide Charlie was the BEST! He took us around the island and to all the coolest spots. He will ask you what kind of spots you want to see more of and will cater to what you want. He was very knowledgeable of the area so it was a lot of fun and informative. We tried different fruits and foods throughout the day. We stopped at Soggy Peso which is a Jimmy Buffet themed bar, it was super cool, drinks were strong and delicious! Lunch was amazing, he gave us some options and we went with Lacasa del Tikinxic. The food was very good and large portions, you definitely have to try the fish fillet along with the octopus guacamole! I highly recommend you book with this company, it was such a fun day as we got to sit back, relax, and explore this beautiful island!
