This was a delicious breakfast and I’m glad we made the stop. The vibe is way laid back. We were waiting almost 5 minutes outside before someone addressed us at the front door to seat us. No hello. We had to inch closer inside and make eye contact before I just said “four people” to a hostess. She gave us hand sanitizer. We were waved to a table near the kitchen by another gentleman. And again we waited for someone to take our order. Another five minutes or more and we are as close to the kitchen as possible. The older gentleman server is gracious and patient. We order the yogurt bowl, french toast, breakfast quesadilla and eggs Benedict. All really delicious. Our favorite was the french toast. The coffee - 😐, just really strong but also bland. No amount of cream or sugar was able to create something soothing to accompany breakfast. But the mango juice - perfection in a glass. I felt like I was drinking straight from a mango. After eating, we had to flag someone down for our check because no one ever really checked on us to see how things were or if we needed something. Our hostess disappeared to the rooftop patio and we didn’t see him again. Someone finally brought our check. We were going to pay in USD, as it was roughly five dollars more and leave a tip but we kept waiting for the younger gentleman/barista to cash us out. 5 minutes passed and all of our party went to the restroom and had returned thinking we could leave to catch our 9:30 ferry. But he was busy with orders at the window for various coffee to go. We were cutting close with time and we decided to scrounge up the last monies we had in pasos and provide them, unable to leave a tip, which I feel zero ways about at this point because I paid for the food and that’s all that was good. I don’t feel valued as a customer. Maybe I’m not a regular. Maybe my family is darker than the average visitor. The service was zilch. Maybe 8 am on a Wednesday isn’t a good day for service 🤷🏽‍♀️. Whatever the reason, they sure ensured I felt it. Despite other items I want to try as I am returning back to the island soon, I won’t visit this establishment any time soon.

I hope you find this review helpful. If so, please give me a thumbs...

I understand that I've been giving 5-star reviews often, but really.

If the food is delicious, the service consistent, even if super busy, then of course, 5 stars it shall be.

Mango Cafe is definitely one of those, 5 stars! No hesitation, just 5 stars.

We were greeted barely coming into the restaurant (after we parked our bikes), allowed to choose our seat, given menus automatically, and the server returned to our table within 5 mins to see if we knew what we wanted. Watermelon juice, mango juice, enchiladas, and coconut French toast was ordered.

I had the watermelon juice- I thought it was okay, the mango was better. The coconut French toast with fresh fruit was amazing. Something I've never had before-looking like a pancake-, dusted with icing sugar and includes syrup. It was crispy, didn't taste overly sweet, so the syrup had its purpose. Thankfully the toast was NOT drenched in syrup, but just in a small bowl. The fruits were good, although they seemed to have lost their sweetness due to the syrup itself.

We had some live music as well, and of course, left a little tip. Prices are a little lower than North Island, and they do accept credit card as payment. The establishment is not wheelchair accessible.

Only main thing to note is that this Cafe is in the Center of Isla Mujeres, so it might mean a hot hike, a golf cart ride, taxi, bike, or scooter ride. There are side street parking, but the street is...

Delicious local brunch and dinner spot located in a quiet suburb on Isla Mujeres. This highly reputable restaurant is one of the best on the island and has amazing food. This is a family run spot, and so it was very nice to even see the little kids helping out around the restaurant. Everyone was very friendly and tipped generously!

The food is a good variety with typical Mexican dishes, and brunch items. The Chilaquiles were the best I’ve ever had in my life. The sauce for spicy, and I added eggs and stick to it, which just made it amazing. Every other items, including the huevos rancheros were delicious. The spot cannot be beat.

The service here was fast and friendly. This is a family run restaurant and so it looks like the owner was helping out and his children were helping take orders and bring us food which was very cute! There’s plenty of parking on the street and we were able to park our golf cart right in front.

I highly recommend this restaurant as a good spot to get breakfast or lunch before you go out on the beach. This has a local vibe, and is better than some of the restaurants closer to the beaches...
