La Jarana — Restaurant in Mérida

These people are crooks. I ordered the nachos that came out cold and were literally drowned in bean juice. So they were cold and soggy. Also, ordered the chicken fajitas which were cold, the “soft shells” were hard, and only came with white rice and more bean juice. The waiter also insisted that he couldn’t split our check but really our tour guide was in cahoots with this place. The tour guide ordered a soda on our tab and agreed when the waiter charged us $15 over the USD conversion price. I know foreign money and how it works. He wanted to charge us more for using cash (untraceable) but the correct amount if we used our card. Not to mention they let people walk around the restaurant selling us things while we dined. Don’t be fooled by the 4 star reviews, this place is horrible. I understand this isn’t a well off city but it’s just not right to steal from customers and serve them...

If you like over priced food of poor quality this is the tourist horror restaurant. They have polite staff or I'd score them one star. :the heuvos rancheros was the worst I've ever had... with eggs basically served with watery runny tomatoe sauce. My wife had an ham, cheese, mushroom omelet that suffered from ingredients of poor quality. Both plates had soggy tortilla chips doused in a lime sauce.. . it would be a lot wiser to put the sauce in a small cup and let the customers dunk them. This centro location is the only thing keeping it alive I suspect. Not recommended as there are many much better cheaper restaurants heading towards...

When the bill came the prices were a lot higher than the prices in the menu they gave us. When I asked them to bring me the menu they brought me a menu with the same lower prices. Then, I said I wasn’t going to pay these higher prices. The waiter took the menu with the lower prices and came back to me a few minutes later offering a 10% discount.

I tried to find that lower-priced menu but I couldn’t, as they had hidden it.

Shady.

I paid the bill with 10% discount and no gratuity. I hate shady dealings.

Also, they have people come to your table selling things while you’re trying to dine.
