This place s a true gem that offers an unforgettable dining experience. Nestled in the heart of the vibrant cultural district, it combines delicious cuisine, lively entertainment, and a charming ambiance that immersed us in the rich traditions of Mexican music and cuisine. The moment we stepped into the Restaurant, we were greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The décor exudes a classic Mexican charm, with colorful murals, traditional artwork, and rustic furnishings that transport you to a bygone era. The restaurant pays homage to the renowned Plaza Garibaldi, known as the birthplace of Mariachi music, and successfully captures the essence of its cultural significance. The menu is a delightful showcase of authentic Mexican flavors. From traditional favorites to regional specialties, each dish is meticulously prepared using fresh ingredients and traditional cooking techniques. Whether you're indulging in mouthwatering tacos, savoring flavorful enchiladas, or enjoying the rich flavors of mole, the culinary offerings at Tenampa never disappoint. This was a whole experience!!!! We were seated right away, informed of the specials and given time to look over the menu. The food was absolutely amazing- there was a huge variety on the menu, authentic home style Mexican food that is well prepared and is hardy and flavorful! The atmosphere was loud, boisterous and filled with mariachis playing! THIS IS MEXICO! if you want to dive right in and embrace everything Mexico, come here and eat or have drinks. *Note-there are food and drink specials. The waiters should tell you the specifics on the drinks, but sometimes people miss those details and are upset when the specials don't show up on the bill. When our waiter brought the bill he had written the tip amount on the back of the receipt in case I wanted to include it with my payment. The prices were very reasonable service was impeccable! We started with a frozen margarita and a michelada, our drinks came out right away so we could drink and contemplate what we wanted to eat. I chose my favorite-pozole rojo and a side order of nopales. The pozole came out with all of the proper garnishes and tostadas, the nopales were cooked and seasoned perfectly. My bf got tacos de arrechera y consomé de pollo, and he said his food was excellent! We asked for more limes, Tajín and tortillas and everything was brought over right away. I will definitely be back! *Also note, when you get to plaza Garibaldi, you will get bombarded with people trying to get you to rent a mariachi and go to other restaurants, we had one guy go as far as to try to convince us that they were not selling food at this time!! DO NOT ENTERTAIN OR LISTEN TO THESE GUYS, THEY ARE SUPER ANNOYING AND IN YOUR FACE.

I would wholeheartedly reccommend avoiding this place. My girlfriend and I asked whether it was possible to have a drink and a vegan appertiser before entering, and the hostess said it was ok. We sat and ordered a cocktail promotion from their menu but couldn't see anything vegan so we asked the waiter. He called over the head waiter, who then proceeded to tell us that there was nothing vegan on the menu. We asked if we could just have drinks, and he said it wasn't possible. I asked if there was anything for vegetarians, to which he replied there wasn't. I asked what our option was, and he said to leave. I have never experienced anything so embarrassing in my life. In hindsight though, he did us a massive favour. We walked a few doors down and discovered a great Pulqueria on the corner of the plaza!

This place can be better, however they have a bad sewer smell coming through the door AND THEY ALLOW SCAMERS TO Roam AROUND AND SCAM PATRON COMING TO THEM. The service is good. The food is ok. SOME DRINKS R GOOD.not the cosmopolitan. The mariachi bands are a good touch, you do pay extra for that if u want a song on ur table. The location doesn't feel safe at all. Back to the scammers: there are guys stading outside the door telling prospective tenampas client some story about the current state of the salon tenampa and impersonating them to take you to the scamers spot across the plaza...PLEAE GO INSIDE THE RESTAURANT DONT SPEAK TO ANYONE OUTSIDE... SALON TENAMPA THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AND YOU MUST DO SOMETHING TO STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING RIGHT ON YOUR FRONT DOOR. AFTER ALL WE ARE YOUR CLIENTS.

I went on Monday night around 21:00. The person at the door said Sunday was the other slow night. (Friday and Saturday being the busiest.) I had a great time. My advice is to eat before you come and just order beer. Pay with cash. Some of the other reviews complain of slow service and payment problems. The room has beer-hall seating and is noisy-fun. So taking large dinner orders and making complicated drinks would be difficult on a busy night. I came with cash for the bands. The prices are on the wall ($150MX for a group and $80MX for the soloist/duets.) This is not the lowest price that you could get out on the plaza, but the quality is better with the house bands at Tenampa. (I tried both outside on the plaza, and inside Tenampa.) The other reason to avoid the outside plaza is a sewer smell.

Located in Plaza Garibaldi is the oldest restaurant/bar in the square. This place has a great history and is THE BEST place to eat and drink in the square. The drinks are great especially the pepino tamarindo ! The cantarito drink has a great flavor. The Arrechera tacos we good. The milanesa con pollo was also good. The corn cake dessert is definitely something you will want to order. They let the different Mariachis in the area come inside to put on a show. I think they only allow the best groups to come in ..... I didn't see some of the others in the square that didn't sound great enter the restaurant. Walking around the square you can have the groups play you a song for around 150-200 pesos.
