I read about the negative reviews. It does feel like a trap based on our own experiences and the words of the Punta Allen locals. I just don’t understand why they charge so much and not maintain the roads and clean the beach. Lessons learned, here are some tips you may consider before driving down here. We personally think it’s not worth the hassle and money.

The entrance fee is $118 per person per night, even you are staying in the resort/ hotel in punta allen not visiting the reserve. The bumpy road is full of pothole, be prepared to spend 4-5 hours with a sedan and 3 hrs with a 4x4 just got this 40 Km drive. There is a ferry runs from Tulúm to Punta Allen twice a day to avoid the long drive and the entrance fee. The beach is full of sargassum and trash even private beach owned by the resorts. Expect higher price for literally everything because they are all shipped from Tulum. Local government turns off the power from 12 am to 9am everyday. Some hotels run their own generators after the blackout. It is very chill and secluded once you are in the village. The locals are super friendly and...

Very poor info at entry point (and Im Mexican). The road is full of private beaches with a few entry points to the sea. A good amount of rubbish along the way. Road is Bad. Any car can make it but if not a 4x4 you will be going slow. Expect 4hours to Punta Allen and 4 hours back.

3km after entry to reserve there is "El ultimo Maya" also private but you can use the besch of you consume food/drinks there. About 20usd/pp minimum to stay there.

About 10km from entry there is a simolar place "Emily" food mot bad but same deal. 250 pesos/pp to stay. Friendly people.

Quieter...

Trash all over, sharp plastics in the sand. The road is really bumpy and even with a 4x4 is it hard to drive, deep holes all over (max. speed 15km/h)

The entrance fee was 215 each person, as they say for the enviroment, but nobody cleaned the road and the Beach.

There is only on beach access and its full of trash. All other beach access are privat property and no way to the beach.

We went to the "Camping" there you get access to the beach incl. Beachchair, but you have to consume at the restaurant for at minimum 300 Pesos per person.

Over all a really bad...

No road, private areas with no access to the beach, thorns on the both sides, no view, rubbish and guys who are sitting nearby Arco Maya and laughing about you because you paid for nothing. If you expect to see something - do not expect… we paid 200 MXN for nothing… and we were on bicycle not by car. People who went towards us stopped and asked is there are something to see in the beginnings as on the other side there are also nothing beside the box which collect money.
