La Popular - Nômade Temple Tulum — Restaurant in Tulum

The setting and ambience can't get any better than at La Popular. Tables are set at a perfect beach with the sound of the waves and maybe the best view of the beach in Tulum. But a great location and setting is not the only important part of a restaurant, at la Popular the entire staff is friendly, and in our case Eligio went above and beyond to make sure that this perfect setting was match with their service. To add even more, the food was delicious, we ordered the "pulpo confitado" (Octopus Confit), Calamari rings, Ceviche Mix (with octopus & shrimp) and the salmon tartare and each one was perfect. I highly recommend going an hour before the sunset and stay for as long as you'd like, every minute here is worth it.

Las mesas estan puesta en la playa escuchando el sonido de las olas rompiendo en la playa en un lugar que pudiera ser considerado la mejor playa de Tulum. Pero el lugar o el ambiente no son la unica parte importante de un restaurante, en la popular todos los empleados son amigables y en nuestro caso, Eligio hizo todo lo posible para que este lugar perfecto tuviera el servico perfecto tambien. Para añadirle mas, la comida es deliciosa, ordenamos pulpo confitado, anillo de Calamares, Ceviche Mixto (con pulpo y camarones) y el tartare de Salmon los cuales estaban deliciosos. We recently had the pleasure of staying at Nomade Tulum and dining at their wonderful restaurant, and we couldn't be happier with our experience. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm smiles and exceptional service.

The hotel itself is a beautiful oasis, offering a perfect blend of comfort and luxury with a unique, earthy charm. The atmosphere is tranquil and inviting, making it the ideal place to relax and unwind.

Our dining experience was equally impressive. The food was exquisite, offering a delicious variety of dishes that truly capture the essence of Tulum's vibrant culinary scene. But what truly made our meals special was the outstanding service we received.

We would like to give a special mention to our servers, Fermin, Miguel, Pedro, and Enrique and others, who went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. Their attentiveness, friendliness, and responsiveness made us feel truly valued as guests. They were always quick to accommodate our requests and provided service with genuine warmth and professionalism.

Lovely food, terrible service. We’re currently staying at a nearby boutique hotel, much more private than where La Popular is situated, however, we fancied a seafood meal and ventured out with reservation in hand.

Upon learning that we were from a different hotel, the hostess immediately treated us like dirt, barely acknowledging us. After a few drops of rain outside, we were ushered into an indoor restaurant, where we were given the worst table, despite being the only diners (i.e., right next to a busy stairwell and ordering terminal, so incredibly crowded and hectic).

We ordered quite a bit of food, and were roundly ignored once other guests trickled in. And our rude hostess clearly fawned over those that were staying at the hotel, while glowering at us.

Won’t go in to detail about the food, which overall was quite good, as it was ultimately compromised by the service.

*Random asides, a ‘DJ’ suddenly appeared about halfway through the meal, ‘spinning’ his cultivated playlist. And someone decided to smoke a cigar with their meal, adding to what was already a pretty...
