Casablanca Grand Theater — Attraction in arrondissement de Sidi Belyout مقاطعة سيدي بليوط

The Grand Theater of Casablanca is still waiting for its inaugural. It was planned to open in June 2018; then delayed until September 2018; and then till the end of 2018. Unfortunately, there is no opening ceremony in sight. Probably, it will open by the summer of 2019 as there is still a lot of work needs to be done including the finishing touches. The opening is not yet scheduled nor the inaugural show or performance. There is no word on the programs from the management. The construction on this mega project started in 2014 and is entering into its 5th year. It has almost cost 1.5 billion Dirham already and this is not the final cost yet. The main theater would accommodate 1,800 people; plus an auditorium will cater for 600 people; and another hall to accommodate small gatherings up to about 300 people. The historic water fountain or 'place de pigeons' (the Pigeons Square) has been erased and the new one is constructed on the new location in front of the Tribunal (court house).
