Gorgeous synagogue. Probably the most stunning one I have ever been to (which is a lot considering I’m a Jew that studies Middle eastern Judaism). The one thing is that you must “prove to be Jewish” which unfortunately in a colonized/imperialized country like Morocco (even after 1400 years of Moroccan Arab Judaism) means that you are Ashkenazi (European Jewish and American.) when the head guide say my passport I was allowed in but the grounds manager who is probably illiterate anyway gave me hard time considering he didn’t know my last name is Jewish and by virtue of being brown, suspect. Anyway major Casablanca and Morocco highlight!

Absolutely beautiful synagogue, renovated in 1996 but built in 1949. The attention to detail and the stained glass representing the 12 tribes of Israel, are stunning. We celebrated Purim here, and the voices of centuries past echoed from the reading of Megillat Esther!

My partner is Jewish and the guard let me go in too. Not sure if that was by accident. It is stunning but be prepared for a small angry man to grumble and glare at you the whole time... Also it's 10MAD each which he told us at the end while he blocked the exit...

According to the police outside there are other free synagogues...

The place is very beautiful and has a very nice view from the inside. Everything is well decorated and admirable. We didn't visit during visiting hours but rather praying time, so we joined the prayer (note that only Jews are allowed inside while praying time, so if you aren't, come during...
