If you're an "Aesthete" like me, you're gonna love this place A LOT and I'm not kidding! this architectural marvel was designed by the "2013 Pritzker Architecture Prize Awardee" - Architect Toyo Ito, so be prepare for some great expectations! The exterior façade itself was majestic enough to entice you to come and enjoy what's inside the structure. What you are about to see are these undulating curves that envelopes the interior paired with simple white textured walls that gives you the feeling of softness and modernity at the same time. At Level 6 (The Sky Garden), you will be greeted by the bright blue skies and the towering buildings that coexist within the perimeter of the structure. Strolling around the sky garden was also an eventful experience and chance to reflect and appreciate the beauty of co-existing nature of the concrete buildings and the urban landscape. There's also a coffee shop on level 6 in case you wanted to have a drink after/before exploring and there's also a toilet nearby just straight ahead past the coffee shop entrance. By the time I got here to visit, the theater area itself was not open in public to explore unless there's a concert or performance to be held according to the information desk so there's that. (I really think that's the most important part of the structure that I've missed!) To wrap things up, National Taichung Theater was easy to explore and navigate and you will not get lost inside! there's a lot of souvenir items on the ground floor (TIP: there's still cheap ones despite that a lot of the display items are quite pricey in my opinion, so always be vigilant!) and I believe there's a café area or restaurant of some sort that is also there in the ground floor to cater your food cravings or if you're planning to date someone, it's actually a good location to set 😊. Again there's NO ENTRANCE FEE so it's a big plus to those on a budget tour. This will probably one of my unforgettable experience in my life and I hope yours too when you're planning to visit, it was rewarding and an aesthetic candy to those appreciates the beauty of space and materiality, "TRULY AN ARCHITECTURAL MARVEL INSIDE AND OUT".

The National Taichung Theater was designed by Japanese architect Ito Toyo. Based on the "sound cave" concept, elements such as curved-wall units and air holes are used to build this changed space. The result is a newfound building that stands on its own firmly without supporting pillars or 90-degree walls at all. The theater is equipped with three professional performing venues which meet international standards: Grand Theatre, Playhouse and Black Box. They can each be adapted to fit the needs of various types of productions. There is also a multi-functional space, "Corner Salon," where educational events and public speeches may be held. The green Outdoor Plaza and the rooftop Sky Garden are great for the public to spend some leisurely hours in. The architecture of the National Taichung Theater is a work of art. The theater's performing venues and garden are unique, too. It is worth paying a visit here for an artistic feast, from the inside out!

+ Great Architecture, very dynamic. I love it + Strategic location, nice neighborhood and surrounded by apartment. NIce view everywhere +There's some ponds inside and outside, for me it is bring fresh air making temperature more cold + Is it not only theater, but also have some market sell creative things, from furniture, decorative display. + in some area they display things, so this theather have some pop up museum as well + The rooftop is so admirable I came here back in 2018 during summertime, when I walk out from my bus. My jaw immediately drop, I never seen anything like this. I came with my friends, we got oppotunity to explore this place. Of course when I'm here, they have some shows but I think they're sold out. But, we are so fascinated with the architecture, cleanliness and how helpful the staffs are. If you visit Taichung, or Taiwan in general visit here IS A MUST!

Might possible be one of the best buildings that I've ever visited in my life! I love the exterior and interior of this theatre, and best of all: it isn't that crowded at all! There's a huge outside area of the theatre with a fountain [but didn't work when I came here]. There's a mini river with water that flows inside the theatre, which I think is really cool! There's gift shops, eating places, some museums here, as well as theatres where some shows would have their venues here! There's lifts here too, and there's a rooftop area at the 6th floor [also the highest floor of this theatre]. The views are fire though! You can see high rise buildings and roads from all 4 sides of the theatre, and if you're lucky, catch the sunset here! There's a small cafe at the 5th floor, and overall, you should definitely visit this place, since it's free!

The Taichung National Opera House is a stunning architectural marvel, and its unique design and remarkable interior are undoubtedly a highlight of Taichung City. Designed by the famous Japanese architect Toyo Ito, this opera house perfectly demonstrates the innovation and aesthetics of modern architecture with its streamlined appearance and natural style. The exterior structure of the opera house is dominated by curves and waves, giving it a flowing and organic feel, like a work of art, which is unforgettable. Overall, the Taichung National Opera House is not only a performance venue, but also a treasure of modern architectural art. Its unique design, exquisite interior decoration and excellent acoustics make it a cultural landmark not to be missed in Taichung City
