We worked with Ammar in the months coming up to our trip. We worked out the details in advance and customized our trek to our liking. Our first full day in Nepal, We did a Kathmandu city tour with Ammar. He was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the sites we visited, he spoke English very well which was reassuring I'm a country we didn't speak the language. He also introduced us to Kamal our guide for Pikey Peak Trek. The next day Kamal and Lakpa our porter, arrived early at it hotel with a Jeep service to depart on our trek. Kamal took care of everything along the trek, he was extremely professional, knowledgeable about Nepalli culture, was an expert on the Trek route, and helped us every step of the way. Lakpa was also friendly, and a very strong porter, he also helped us along the way. This was our first time in Nepal and GokyoTreksNepal team made us feel safe and confident. We got to know Kamal on the trek as well and he is a great guy. Unfortunately we ran into some challenges along the way with the weather and we're unable to finish the planned route to to deep snow making a section unpassable. We worked with Kamal and he gave us 3 alternate route options all were great and we chose the return route that worked best for our schedule and physical abilities. Upon return to Kathmandu, we had several other activities booked through other vendors, 2 of the suppliers cancelled on us or were no shows. We worked with Ammar to schedule another tour with his company since we were so happy with the service. Our final fill day in Nepal we again had the pleasure of having Ammar as our guide where we did a day hike of Shivipuri National Park. Again the weather was not cooperative for views, but Ammar took us through the park, it was misty and a bit rainy, but we did get to see a lot of the native plants and wildlife in the park including birds, monkeys, and wild boar. When I return to Nepal, I will only be working with Ammar and his team to schedule all of my activities. I was so happy with the professionalism, friendliness, and helpfulness from Ammar, Kamal, and Lakpa. Despite our poor luck with the weather, this team ensured we had an incredible experience.

In October 2022 I completed a 15-day Langtang – Gosaikunda trek organized by Gokyo Treks with Bharat Dhakal as a guide. This was my third trip with this company, and all of them were perfectly prepared by Ammar, the director of Gokyo Treks. (Btw. my previous review about my earlier two treks is from another account as Google does not allow to post more than one review from one account). The previous treks were in a group of 4-5 people, with one guide and a couple of porters. So, I was confident that this time I can also rely on Ammar and that I do not have to look any further. Indeed, advice and help were needed even before the trip started, as the originally planned Manaslu trail was impossible to do due to heavy rain and landslides in that area. Ammar personally spent a lot of time at the immigration office that issues trek permits where the situation was changing with incoming news from the mountains. Finally, we decided to go for Langtang and Gosaikunda treks. This time I was trekking alone with Bharat as a guide and Ram as a porter. They made a great team taking care of everything that was needed during the trek. Excellent choice of lodges, help with the meals, taking photos. Bharat was present all the time around me ready to help with anything I needed. One day he almost run to the next village to get a room when he learned on the trail that most of the lodges are booked. During day hikes days, such as to Tserko Ri, both Bharat and Ram were with me with Ram carrying my stuff, Bharat leading the group, and Ram at the end. This was very appreciated! Again, I can highly recommend Gokyo Treks and letting Ammar organize your trip!

So first off, great choice in the Annapurna Panorama Trek, excellent views, delicious food, and let’s just say the trek was hard enough for me and I have hiked through the western US. Rajesh was my guide and I am sooooooooooooooo happy it was him!! He took excellent care of me, always made sure I felt okay, made sure I didn’t feel pressured with the pace, always made sure I had enough to eat. There are some pretty tough moments on this hike, even though sll of Nepal describes it as easy. Going downstairs for such long periods of time can be very challenging on one’s knees, but Rajesh made it as easy as he possibly could for me. I have to say, he always pick the right place to stay. That is not subjective, he actually took care of the pick the best room he could for me, made sure I was as comfortable as possible, and picked the best logistical location possible. I didn’t realize there would be so much to consider, but he considers all of it. You could also tell that Rajesh has an excellent reputation among tea house proprietors. He doesn’t drink or smoke, he maintains the highest professionalism, he knows he has to get up early and get his guests to their location safely. Uttam was my porter and he was strong and super accommodating! Very professional, and very accommodating. Really helped me out when I needed it! I also wanted to mention Ammar, every time I had to communicate to him from the states using WhatsApp, he always answered promptly and politely. He put together an excellent trip, as I also wanted to go to Chitwan national Park. Thank you everyone, I had an excellent time!!

I reached out to Gokyo Tours because their price seemed the most affordable of other similar tours (almost $200 less!) I did a 7 day Langtang valley trek right before the spring season started. Ammar, the owner, went above and beyond with communication. He was communicative about every detail and as a solo female traveler, I had many fears that he accommodated - looking for other travelers to pair up with (no luck, in spite of Ammar trying!), making sure I was paired with a guide who spoke English well, answering all last minute questions past business hours, and even texting my worried parents updates when I was offline. My guide was Ganesh Kulung and I'd recommend him in general, and for any solo female travellers in particular. He has five sisters, which shows through in this respect and consideration for women (I did not see this in all guides we encountered on the road). I'm a slow trekker and he was patient, never rushing me or making me feel bad about my pace. His kind and friendly nature made him easy to talk to, and English was just one of the languages he knew in addition to Hindi, German, and of course, Nepali. My only nuanced comment is that the accommodation varies widely - sometimes I had a nice mattress with an attached bath, sometimes I didn't - even when we went back to the same hotel! But I took the difference as part of the experience and adjusted. Overall, I'd like to hike the Himalayas in the future and will likely use Gokyo Travels again.

I recently completed the Everest Base Camp trek and it was an mesmerizing experience! The trek itself was challenging but incredibly rewarding, with stunning views of the Himalayas and the opportunity to immerse myself in the local culture. The trek took me through a variety of landscapes, from lush forests to rocky terrain, and I was constantly amazed by the natural beauty around me. The highlight, of course, was reaching the base camp itself, with its sweeping views of the towering peaks and the Khumbu Glacier. It was a truly awe-inspiring moment that I will never forget. Throughout the trek, I was impressed by the professionalism and expertise of our guide (Mnirkumar Magar) and support staff (Shambu). They were knowledgeable about the area and its history, as well as attentive to our needs and safety. The accommodations and meals were also excellent, especially given the remote and rugged setting. Overall, I highly recommend the Everest Base Camp trek with "Gokyo Treks & Expeditions" to anyone seeking a challenging and rewarding adventure in one of the world's most spectacular mountain ranges. It was truly an experience of a lifetime!" Special thanks to Ammar Raj Guni (Director at Gokyo Treks & Expedition) for organising our trip.

I recently had the incredible opportunity to trek the Annapurna Base Camp Trail for 7 days with three of my friends, and we couldn’t have asked for a better team than Gokyo Treks Nepal. Our guide, Bharat, along with our amazing porters Krisna and Tika, made this adventure truly unforgettable. As someone who isn’t an experienced hiker, I was initially a little nervous about the challenges of the trek. However, Bharat’s expertise and guidance immediately put us at ease. The team took care of all the logistics, from managing our meals and accommodations to ensuring we were always on track with the itinerary. This allowed us to focus on enjoying the breathtaking scenery without worrying about the details. While the trek was challenging, Bharat’s leadership made it feel safe, enjoyable, and hassle-free. An additional highlight was Bharat’s talent as a professional photographer! Not only did he guide us, but he also captured stunning photos to document our journey. We will forever treasure the memories, thanks to the beautiful pictures he took along the way. Overall, I highly recommend Gokyo Treks Nepal for anyone looking to experience the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, especially at such a reasonable price.
