I called the British Embassy in Kathmandu seeking assistance regarding a letter of no objection, which my place of employment informed me was required to own a scooter/moped. Initially, I spoke to a Nepali receptionist who was considerate, listened carefully to my request, and provided clear instructions to call again, press option 2, and speak to the consulate.
Following these instructions, I reached an English-speaking representative. I explained the situation and was directed to visit the British Government website. I clarified that there was no provision for such a letter on the website and mentioned that colleagues had received an email from their respective embassies stating they did not offer these letters, which had sufficed for their purposes. However, I was curtly informed that the British Embassy does not provide such letters and that the issue was beyond her remit. When I asked if she could send me an email confirming this, which I could use as proof, she refused.
The response was dismissive and entirely unhelpful. The English speaker was abrupt, clipped and was unwilling to offer any practical support or alternative solutions. This lack of assistance was deeply disappointing, especially given the clear and professional demeanour of the Nepali receptionist I initially spoke to.
Unfortunately, this experience reflects poorly on the level of service provided by the British Embassy. Clearer communication, a willingness to assist, and a more supportive approach would go a long way in helping British nationals navigate bureaucratic...
Read moreI am extremely disappointed with the service provided by both the lower-level staff and higher-level officers at this institution. Despite weeks of trying to get a response from the BE and the consulate regarding my client's visa extension process, we have been completely ignored. My client, a UK citizen, is an elderly person who deserves respect and priority. My mother and herself have visited the office countless times, submitted all the required documents on time, and yet we are met with unnecessary delays and outright neglect.
Instead of assisting us, the staff have been unprofessional, rude, and unhelpful. Shockingly, some staff members even used offensive language towards my mother, which is unacceptable under any circumstances. The behavior towards an elderly client and a foreign national who has chosen Nepal as her home is appalling and disheartening.
This level of service is disgraceful and unacceptable. Elderly individuals should be treated with the dignity and support they deserve, and it is deeply disappointing to see such disregard from an institution entrusted with these responsibilities.
I urge the management to address these issues urgently and ensure that their staff are trained to provide proper, respectful service to...
Read moreAbsolutely appalling service. I am a UK citizen and have been trying to get a reply from the BE and/or the consulate for four weeks. I've sent 10 emails, visited once (they wouldn't let me in) and phoned. They have ignored all my requests for help even though I've told them that this delay is causing massive problems for me while trying to apply for a residential Nepalese visa. Disgraceful. They're simply not...
