Gelderlandplein is Amsterdam’s biggest mall and is smack in the middle of the unassuming Amsterdam Zuidas, with a vast array of luxury shopping and dining options. Fashion boutiques abound, from ESPRIT to Sissy Boy, as well as shoes, jewellery, beauty products, home décor, and even groceries (including Asian specialties, an eco-conscious MARQT, and the largest Albert Heijn supermarket in the country.) Restaurants range from Italian (Gusto di Casto) to Japanese (Takumi Burgers and Steaks) with many cafés to catch a break and indulge in a well-deserved snack when that pile of shopping bags becomes too heavy.
The Gelderlandplein shopping centre is the perfect place to find a new outfit or a nice gift, or to just stop of for a healthy salad or a traditional dim sum lunch. Parents can drop off their little ones at the 'Kiddieland' children's play area while enjoying a cup of cappuccino. Shops include Sissy Boy, Rituals, Petit Bateau, Pauw, Nespresso, Marqt, Siebel Juweliers, Rivièra Maison, Rick Moorman, Bronwasser, Zwartjes van 1883, Rogge Amsterdam, Zohar Kids, Le Pain Quotidien, Huize van Wely, AH XL, Takumi Burger & Lobster, Grizll, Coffee Company and Hema.
Gelderlandplein is easily accessible by public transport (tram 5, express tram 51 and buses 199, 461 and 463) or by car (parking is free for the first 90 minutes). In addition, a free shuttle bus travels from the Zuidas district and Buitenveldert to...
Read moreAn upmarket shopping centre in a leafy mid-century suburb of Amsterdam. Not easy to reach by public transport but an underground facility offers free parking. Architecturally somewhat dated but clean and well maintained. Overall a sterile airport departure lounge or 90's corporate headquarters look: harsh lighting and plenty of polished marble, glass and metal. No muzak but certain shops believe in dispensing pungent air freshener over the customer. Shopping options include two major supermarkets, a Japanese/Korean specialities market and a number of smaller specialist shops, such as a bakery, fishmonger's, greengrocer's, a coffee capsule boutique and shops for Belgian chocolates and Italian olive oil respectively. The usual Dutch high street chemist's and household ware chains are in place and so are some predictable, mainstream fashions for ladies with a few shoe, gift and jewelry shops thrown in, as well. During lunch, a number of interesting eateries are popular among the suits from nearby Zuidas business district and Amstelveen ladies tend to linger on into the late afternoon. Infamous for the worst Christmas decorations in town with cold LED lighting and Christmas trees bursting out of giant purple toilet...

We visited Gelderlandplein during a recently to purchase outdoor hiking shoes at the large Bever store located here. We also enjoyed very good ice-cream from the Huize van Wely chocolatier.
Art installations within the mall are interesting to view as well. We most enjoyed the Better Knowing sculpture by KAWS. There is also children's play area, parking facility as well as a hotel at the premise.
Overall, we found this to be a pretty good shopping mall in Amsterdam, a good option if you are seeking indoor venues if you find yourself in the city on bad...
