Restaurant The Cow — Restaurant in Edam-Volendam

It was the worst restaurant experience I ever had in Europe. Terrible!!!!! The restaurant was full of tourists (most Chinese)which was not a problem itself(look at the first comment, that guy gave a 5star), but it turned out my stereotype on this kind of restaurants came true when they started to serve food. The crew just ignored us and distributed food like in kindergarten.lollllll.

It was a part of our tour and for 15 euros with no choice we have: Starter: some soup with cheese inside, when I arrived to the resturant the soup was already there. Main dish: fried fish with salde and fried potatoes served in serveral bowls , one bowl for 4 people to share, we have 12 people in a big table. Fish steaks were picked from the server's bracket and sent to our plate one by one. The quality of the fish, I would say, is something you can get for less than 5euros in street fast food.

Dessert: the crew served the small ice cream when we just started to eat the main dish also in a way like in kindergarten that we passed the ice creams one by one ourselves.

The so called 3 courses menu only lasted 15mins when the servers start to clean our table where some of us didn't even finish the main dish.

I would call this as university canteen or fast food rather than a 1933 founded restaurant. The servers were rude and had absolutely no communication with us. I asked one of them to fill some water in my personal bottle, guess what that lady gave me hot water from pipe， which everyone knows that it was not drinkable.

Finally when I was cloes to end this worst food experience , another group of Chinese tourists just went into this resturant to enjoy what they so called Dutch seafood.

Avoid this restaurant as much as possible, I was so disappointed to Dutch food, and to Dutch people the way they...

the food was honestly, pretty decent. nothing too god but it wasn't bad either. the problem was the service, we (2 people) arrived and they immediately tried to seat us with another group of 4 people who we didn't know, they were just as weirded out as us, and even though sitting down with random people is pretty common in europe, that's only when the restaurant/bar/etc is full, this time it was empty except for a few tables. the other thing is that the 3-course meal menu doesn't work for everyone, the only entree was veg soup (it was decent), which they gave to us unannounced. then the main dishes were all meat (which we didn't have a problem with) that came with a bowl of roasted potatoes, a plate of baby carrots, a plate of beans(????) and a salad, that is a lot of food! and after that there is dessert, which we declined. the problem with this type of menu is the amount of food wasted, because; for example, I eat a small amount of food, one plate and that's enough, and the person who was with me can not eat very much either, so all the side dishes ended up being wasted. the waitresses seemed very much in a hurry for everyone to leave, one of the waitresses even asked the table behind me (who came in a few minutes before us) if they wanted the check when they had just finished the food. we were charged 39 euros, which isn't horrible but we have eaten better for way...

Very very rude service. One old guy keep yelling at us as we want to order 2 set menu and share it for 3 people because the portion is too big for us. But he insisted that 2 set meal can only for 2 people and only gave us 2 platings.

As we asked for additional plating, he yelled at us again and that’s when one of us just had enough and she left the restaurant feeling insulted. I have no choice but to finish the meal as the waiter already poured the very plain watery so called soup in my bowl.

I ordered fish set meal and all dishes are terrible. All dishes are tasteless. The carrots are overcooked and mushy, there’s no chips in the fish n chips and they didn’t give me the bread for the soup.

As expected, the portion was too big for me to finish and many food ended up being wasted. Will not recommend this place to anyone and surely will not going...
