3 stars for the food, 5 for the service... so...as to the food...it would seem that this place, which i learned is a presence in places other than Leiden, as well, is trying to present itself as an American TYPE institution... and, given the lack of certain ingredients that are part of some of the dishes(e.g. cheddar cheese. which i have to go to Kelly's expat shop in either Den Haag or, now also, in A'dam, to get. that stuff they CLAIM is cheddar in supermarkets is laughable...unless you don't have a sense of humor about buying something that isn't even CLOSE to what it's supposed to be). or the meat in a philly cheese STEAK(not 'stake', as one reviewer typed. a stake is something that you use on vampires. or one may stake a claim...or enter into a gambling game with...sorry, but if THEY're going to be critical, then it allows me to criticize their misspellings...). sure, this chain can GET these quality ingredients if we don't mind paying an extra few euros per dish, but...it's just not trying to appeal to that sort of crowd... i haven't tried anything but a breakfast burrito...it was ok/edible...not very large but...that's ok. i don't like getting so stuffed with my first(or any other, to be honest) meal of the day...and i felt the price was reasonable for what i got...the service was prompt and friendly, imo. i think if i stick to the dishes that are easier to duplicate with ingredients that are easily(and cheaply) available, i'll do fine in the future...i knew that i wouldn't be able to taste the cheddar in the breakfast burrito before i ordered it. so if i complained i'd have to be an idiot...i've lived her long enough to know that things 'american' are not. but i appreciate a) that they made a good effort and b) that they serve breakfast type dishes till 5pm...that's a big plus to ME... welcome to Leiden, Ted...i'm hoping you get to stay a while... oh. one more thing...i don't like the fact that the french toast COMES with bacon...and the menu seems to suggest that changes are not what you're about...so i guess i'll just have to continue making my french(not really french...see what i mean? ; - ) toast at home. sans bacon...sure you'd leave it out if i requested it...but would you lower the price? or does the bacon help you justify the price you feel you need to get to make it worth your while? i believe you know what you need to do to make your business work, for whatever this might be worth...'tis a shame, though... i would like, now and again, to just sit down and have someone ELSE make this dish for me...i'm PRETty sure you'd do, at least, a decent job...tot...
Read moreOn a freezing cold morning in late February, my team of seven and I found ourselves at TED's All Day Brunch venue in Leiden for a business meeting. Despite its small and quaint exterior, the two-story venue surprised us with its spacious and welcoming interior. The humorous artwork and our server Imogen's friendliness added a warm touch right from the start.
During our two-hour visit, the allure of the brunch menu was so strong that each of us ended up enjoying two dishes. I started with a Croque Madam, paired with a super-sized Mocha Coffee with an extra shot of espresso, and followed it with French toast topped with syrup, cinnamon, banana, and bacon. The freshness, temperature, and presentation of the food were spot on, making each dish a satisfying experience.
The diversity of the menu was impressive, catering seamlessly to our group's range of dietary needs and allergies. The staff's efficiency extended to providing WiFi assistance, enabling us to eat, discuss, and work without interruption. This level of service, alongside the quality of the food and the venue's ability to accommodate our diverse needs, made TED's stand out.
Comparing TED's to another venue we visited during my 48-hour trip to Leiden, TED's was the highlight. It managed to deliver an exceptional dining experience that combined good food, reasonable prices, and excellent service, setting a high standard for what a brunch spot in...
Read moreWe had a very bad experience at this coffee, we came on sunday we walked in a lot of tables were empty we asked if we could drink a quick coffee for 4 of us for like half an hour they said they are fully booked you can not sit , we understood and we asked for an alternative even though we felt that their talking way was not nice at all they were rude, they said if you find a place outside as reservation was not needed, we found a place, sitted and waited for the waitress, she came and said that we can not bring a fourth chair from another table and that we can not sit as 4 people, despite the fact that 2 tables of 4 were there. We understood that we were not wanted and that it was an act of pure racism. We did not like this behaviour and we will not put our feet...
