If youâre looking for a fancy country club golf course, Mullet Bay isnât for you. The fairways are rough and the greens are rocky. But if youâre looking for a great way to spend several hours with a friend enjoying great views, itâs a terrific value. Many of the things mentioned in other reviews are true; it costs $135 for 18 holes, club rental, and a cart. (They sell black market used balls for $10 a dozen.)
The front nine is definitely nicer than the back nine, so I recommend starting on the back nine so you can end on the front nine. The back nine will also have random people walking to the beach because itâs alongside a lot of condos. The front nine is very private with better views.
As for why Mullet Bay is in bad shape, apparently it anchored a fancy resort that was devastated by Hurricane Luis in 1995 and now seems to be kept afloat by a handful of locals, who candidly do an admirable job on a likely shoestring budget. But the bones of the course are awesome and you can just imagine how nice it used to be and how nice it could be if a developer came in.
Regardless, if you have the time, donât pass up the opportunity, rent some 20 year old Wilson clubs and enjoy a beautiful day golfing with views that should makeup for the poor...
Read moreI write this review only as an avid golfer and as a review of the golf course itself. As far as condition, it is one of the worse golf courses I have ever laid eyes upon. Staying very near the course and passing it daily, my wife and I debated for days about whether it was even open as it appeared abandoned. It is overgrown with rough 8-10" tall and even then almost no visible demarkation in the fairway. The greens are unputtable, if you can call them greens. You'll need to allow yourself unlimited drops to compensate for the condition of the course. I thought I'd just go out and hit some balls on the cheap considering the above, but then I find out it's super expensive at around $100 pp! And considering it's on an island, it still does not offer cool coastal views, mostly just inland views. Clearly a...
Read moreGot to be the biggest rip off in golf ON THE PLANET! $95 For 18 holes on what can only be described as the worst kept greens & fairways anywhere. Cratered, potholed, some even have mini bunkers in the middle of the greens. When you do find one that's relatively intact the different types of grasses are all at different lengths or worn away. 8 years has gone by since the 2017 hurricane but little has been done. I've played in some of the remotest, cheapest golf courses in the world and some of the best.....a d this is 100% the worst kept. Whoever owns it needs to invest some of the green fee into...
