De Speelfabriek — Attraction in Rotterdam

Incredibly good, an absolute blast! Months later, we still have the things we built at De Speelfabriek: our race car, metal signs, and tons of great memories. One thing that really stuck with us was the legendary French fry cannon. We were a bit disappointed to hear it’s only available for birthday groups, but the staff generously explained how it works and even gave us tips on how to build one at home. We listened to the instructions while pedaling our own milkshakes and frying our own fries, unforgettable! Such a fun, hands-on experience far off the usual tourist track. We visited this place with our 6 yo girl and 3.5 yo son. Our son enjoyed the water-based activities like building a dam from stones and floating a foam boat with a paper sail across a little 'pond'. He also loved testing his wooden car on the sloping course. Our daughter loved building a house from little bricks, typing on an old typewriter and making an apple pie. The place is unique, staff spoke English, kids had creative fun, and we felt they were having a great time. Well done to the owners and staff for making this place a success. We had a nice party here for my son's 6th birthday. Kids were busy the whole time and we couldn't stop them playing. Not just for boys but for girls as well, for those who like less standard activities for children, for those who doesn't mind to supervise them a bit and help with building their own cars, ship, drawing, experimenting with different materials.
