The park has something for everyone. You can watch sports in the weekends or try the fitness equipment around the perimeter of the park. Two fenced playgrounds on the Neville Street side of the park provide a range of experiences for all ages. The shaded barbecue area, seats, toilets, and drinking fountains by the playgrounds make it easy to stay for the whole day. Parking is available on the streets around the park. Pedestrians can access from Walker Road, Muripara Avenue, and Target and Neville streets. The park is named after the Walker family who farmed the land from the mid 1860s. The park has been the home ground of the Point Chevalier Rugby League Club since 1922. It has had flood lighting since April 1939. Western Springs Football Club uses the park in the winter.
