Ambler Cafe & Bistro — Restaurant in Albert-Eden

Been there for a meal before the renovations. Food was beautifully presented. I had Soup of the day on another occasion a Eggs Benedict.

Back then I stopped going because I found the young kiwi euro rude and also watched her gossip while a mom with a pram struggles to get through the door so I got up to hold the door open for her.

Staff should have done that, not me.

I don’t think she’s there anymore but there’s a French lady who is now.

Maybe she’s the owner.

She asked me for ID and made me feel like some sort of criminal who was going to run away without paying for her fries, cocktail and fizzy drink for my 13 year old daughter.

Then she said some bs about how they ask everyone in France after she also wanted my daughters ID.

I had to tell her the cocktail was for me, not my DAUGHTER.

I showed her the ID anyway.

But it was awkward and she seems abit up herself to be honest.

I retuned another time in the evening and there she was again.

I asked if the coffee was closed.

She looked mad as hell and said no.

Why does she always seem so far up herself everytime I go in.

I’m just an indigenous person in my own country trying to enjoy what’s on offer and honestly she makes me feel like a criminal.

Fortunately the coffee made by the two Asians there are good. And they provide the customer service we all want.

So they saved service points and atmosphere.

This place certainly has good food, like many reviews has mentioned. But the service personals really need a good training before serving anyone. On Sunday 2 June 2019 after reading the reviews we went to this restaurant and ordered 3 mains and a side dish, since one of us was a vegetarian we said to remove the seafood item and make it a vegetarian dish. After two of us received our food and had almost finished, we asked the waitress where is the vege order, without any apology she just said the side chips was what she had ordered. The number one rule of waitressing is not to stuff up any orders. Eventually we had our dinner and when we went to pay the lady at the counter again was so rude, just asking for our full receipt as if we had done a treble crime. Such terrible service here! came here to have some drinks n the waiter took our order.

Drinks n food came everything was good but then we wanted more drinks, had to physically get up n go get the waiter to come to the table to serve us.

Finished the second round of drinks n was wanting more n we waited n waited n had to get up again to get the waiter, when he came to the table I told him hey make sure u come n check on us every 10mins or so, he agreed but never did it.

Went to pay for the bill n the waiter asked how was everything I told him yeah good but ur customer service is terrible, his answer was sorry we are short staffed tonight, seriously?! Owners need to train their staff better,...
