Gourmet Seafoods Shirley — Attraction in Christchurch

Gets worse every time I, or someone I know goes there. My father went there last night, spent more than $20 for not very much food, and it was all awful. One of the kids didn't even eat it. This place was previously the best fish and chip shop in my opinion, but not anymore. Sometimes you get good food, but it's pretty much a big gamble on whether or not it's good. Fish is always very small these days too. Sometimes they give you 2, which is nice, but most of the time you just get the one, and it's disappointing. Reviewed this ages ago and how the mighty have fallen, last night's meal was awful gave the fish to my dogs it's was rubbery and the white chewy stuff on the outside was not batter, the chips were burnt and cold my word they have gotten really bad. What a disappointment June 2024. Just tried their battered blue cod and chips and their cinnamon donuts. Fish was huge, crisp batter beautiful white flesh and tasted great, chips were fresh and crispy not too large a portion to be off putting but plenty for 1 or 2 people to share. Every time I have gone in here the past few months I have always been served by the same two women and both are sarcastic, rude and impatient. It’s very uncomfortable and unnecessary. Even comments sarcastic as ‘oh I thought you were from up north.’ Take our food home and the chips are over salted, soggy, and plain disgusting. No idea how this place even has awards, the lady in there is rude and needs a lesson on how to run a shop. Would never let my staff in my hospitality business ever talk to my customers like that.
