Richmond Seafoods — Attraction in Christchurch

My order was called out, I jumped up, said thank you and have a good night, all smiles. About 30m down the road as I'm walking home, I hear Yeeohh Yeeohh, turn around to this frantic Chinese woman chasing me, she rips the fish and chips from me and frantically hurried back, no explanation. So I follow thinking they had left something out, she slams the door in my face as I was hot on her heels and tells me "why you do that, you bad man." At this point I realize the mistake. A phone order had been made EXACTLY the same as my order. I was so embarrassed in front of about 7 other customer who were all thinking I had attempted to STEAL someone else's order. Had high expectations based on the Google reviews, but unfortunately, my experience didn’t match up.

I ordered from this place about two weeks ago but only got the chance to write a review today

For around $60 worth of food, the chips were such a small portion and tasted like they’d been refried multiple times—dry and overcooked. The fish was even worse—watery, not fresh, and lacking any crispiness. The mussels were okay, but nothing special.

Overall, pretty disappointing, especially given the price. Definitely not what I expected based on...

Came here on a recommendation, as I was looking for an onion sausage. The item I got here did not disappoint. Nice size onion, nice moist sausage meat and crispy batter. Not the best I've ever had but it was up there. Chips were scraggly but pretty tasty. Had a curry roll which was decent and a piece of tarakihi which was ok. The sole fillet wasn't available. Also had a whitebait patty which I found was too much egg, too thick. I like em thin and crispy. But then again, I'm not a huge fan of egg. Would definitely return...
