I recently visited Parana Park in Hamilton, and it was such a delightful experience! Located right by the beautiful Hamilton Gardens and the river, the park offers a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, making it the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or a day out with the family. The park is beautifully maintained, with lush green lawns, mature trees, and plenty of open space to relax or play.
One of the highlights for me was the playground, which is ideal for kids. It’s well-equipped with slides, swings, and climbing frames, and there’s a great sandpit for younger children to enjoy. The best part is that it’s very spacious, so even on a busy day, it doesn't feel crowded, and families can enjoy the park comfortably. There are also shaded areas nearby, which are perfect for picnics or simply relaxing while keeping an eye on the little ones.
Another feature I really enjoyed was the peaceful walk along the riverbank. The views are stunning, and it’s a lovely spot to watch the ducks or just enjoy nature. The park is very clean and has plenty of benches, which makes it a great place to sit and unwind. I also noticed several walking and cycling paths, which are perfect for those looking to stay active.
For those who enjoy a bit of history, Parana Park has some interesting local monuments and sculptures that add a unique touch to the space. Overall, my visit to Parana Park was incredibly enjoyable, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful outdoor escape in Hamilton. Whether you’re with family, friends, or on your own, this park is a wonderful place to relax, enjoy nature, and...
Read moreMemorial Park, Parana Gardens, Hamilton East, is a must see tourist destination if you are in Hamilton. It is managed by Jo Berwick and her awesome Hamilton City Council Team. The development by Jo and her staff over the last few months has meant this park is now where everyone wants to hang out in Hamilton. The gardens are kept at an international standard, facilities second to none and well maintained and you won't get better views of the mighty Waikato River than from the banks leading down to the river in this park. The staff tending the gardens are super friendly, their knowledge of the park and its hidden stories is definitely worth a listen and you can see they love what they do because they are creating something spectacular down there. From just a girl from Hawkes Bay, blown away by what Jo and her team have done. I wish I had stopped there years ago. I will definitely be back....
Read moreLovely park, we enjoyed our stroll taking in the war displays, mighty river and beautiful gold and orange leaves of the changing season. The children 2&4 enjoyed potters garden. We thought it was pretty cute, even on the cold wet day we visited it brightened us up. The kōwhai slide and bridges were a hit with the kids, as was the bird aviary.Only concern was for how mossy and slippery the stepping logs were.Loved the link to the tuis and Kōwhai within different areas, and the Maori phrase on the steps was a nice touch.Beautiful view of...
