Disappointing, specifically the service. Which was minimal at best. To set the scene, there were four staff working and only three tables in the whole restaurant.
Starting with ordering drinks - I requested a glass of sparkling rose, the waitress suggested I order a “back up” wine in case that one wasn’t available. Staff should be aware before they start their shift, and throughout if there is anything on the menu that is not available.
We ordered our mains, waitress did not not confirm our order back to us, and subsequently a wrong dish was delivered to our table with a long wait for one diner.
Whilst most of our meals were delicious, no one checked on our meals and one dish in particular was extremely salty and unbalanced.
No one topped up our waters and there was no water available on the table and we were not offered any more drinks. It got to a point where half way through our meal I had to leave the table and find someone to get water and more drinks. Walking to the back of the restaurant towards the bar, I found three staff standing/sitting polishing cutlery and chatting away. It wasn’t until I interrupted their conversation, that finally one of the staff acknowledged I was there.
We were not offered dessert menus, and once the table had been cleared from our main plates we did not receive any further service.
Madam woo is known thought the country to be a prestigious restaurant, and previous experiences have reflected that. The biggest let down was, I talked your establishment up and thought it would be a great place to impress our out of town guests.
I hope this was a one off experience, but it will play on my mind next time we are deciding somewhere to dine...
Read moreI must start by saying this was the first time we have been to this restaurant, and the service was absolutely wonderful! All the servers were so kind and attentive. They were the highlight of the night- hope they get paid well cause daym the rest of the night was definitely lacking! Food was pretty average and honestly I came in with a huge expectation from what I have heard and read about this place.
Very limited menu. For entree we got the fried chicken and the honey soy tossed squid. The squid was deliciously tender and the sauce was tasty, but nothing mind blowing. The fried chicken is $17 and we only got 4 pieces smaller than a wicked wing from KFC. Wouldn’t recommend the fried chicken. The sauce it came with was delicious though! Sweet, sour and tangy.
For the mains; I got the yellow curry and my partner had the prawn laksa. Kind of disappointed they didnt have a mixed seafood option for the laksa, but oh well!
Curry was too spicy for me personally but it was nice! Definitely not $36 worth though. I got some coconut cream on the side to add to my curry and it helped with the spice and i enjoyed it.
Partner said the laksa was okay, if you’re a big fan of laksa it may not be your thing. The veges were cooked nicely and the noodles were yum! Something just felt a tad off with the broth.
I also got a Roti with my curry and that was so beautiful, i could see the buttery layers. Also to note the coconut rice was YUM i could just eat that by itself.
We are glad we’ve tried it, enjoyed it enough to have a good date night. But honestly i wouldnt be rushing to come back...
Read moreNot sure how this place got so many 4-5 stars reviews --- different personal preference, maybe? Here is our review.
We got a GrabOne Voucher and thought we should give this a try. The voucher says it is worth $70 of food (for $40), and here is a list of things we got: Four pieces of fried chicken breast: Quite a small serve for $14... but the taste was alright though, the best among all of our orders. Four Wantons: don't like it... After the first two dishes, we waited for 30mins. Tables that ordered later than we have already finished eating... I believe our order was forgotten... I talk to the lady, and eventually, we got the food. One small plate of pork belly (5 pieces?) with some veg: The pork were precooked so the flavor was there, not too bad. But 5 pieces of pork belly plus oyster source fried greens... a bit too expensive for $24. One small plate of fried greens: I am not sure if that's the way the dish supposed to be cooked... the greens were raw, like eating a salad with some warm source. That was actually my first eating raw Chinese cabbage and okra... My friends would know that I would never waste food, but in the end, we had to leave the uncooked vegetables behind. Conclusion The fried chicken was pretty good (so I wasn't lying when the lady ask how was the food). For a rather high-end restaurant, missing out orders is not acceptable. Maybe all the 4-5 stars review loved the raw fried greens?? Value for money is way too low. $70... Not good. Probably will never...
