Chand Indian Restaurant Torbay — Restaurant in Hibiscus and Bays

Went for a takeaway last night , I was the only customer by the looks of it , lady at the reception looked grumpy with no sign of smile while greeting a customer . Ordered chef’s special chicken with seasonal veges , and a cheese and spinach naan. Worst Indian meal I’ve ever had. NO TASTE Chicken pieces were dry and irregularly cut , some were small pieces while some were humongous. Just bland and dry . Seasonal fresh veges tasted like they came out of frozen bags from grocery stores , and had a weird taste . Probably few days FRESH already??? Naan was the only thing good enough on my meal that was worth money spent . Never have I ever written reviews on any businesses , cause everyone’s got their own highs and lows , and been on the hospo industry as well , so don’t like to usually judge restaurants with just one food . But , please atleast try to serve some fresh and authentic food that’s worth money spent. Had to write this , only because my stomach’s feeling weird today. This was the first time, we tried at Chand Torbay. I was quite dissatisfied with quality of food. I am usually the person who don’t complain nor make fuss over food. As I do understand difficult constrains while running a restaurant. I would like to write about my honest experience with this restaurant. Delivery was on time perfect and well packed

Food was not completely pathetic, but ok. Chicken biryani was not bad, but the butter vegetable was full of sugar, too sweet for a curry, please don’t spoil the authentic taste of Indian food with additional sweetness. Gobi pakora no taste just the thick batter covered with cauliflower, Onion Kulcha was horrible, I dint feel like having rest of the food.

“Food is culture, habit, craving, and identity” If a recipe has no soul. You as a cook must bring soul to the recipe.”

We ordered a takeaway and upon collection were told the contents of the order which was correct. However, when we got home and opened the bag discovered that we had been given someone else's order. The restaurant was phoned immediately to say we were returning the wrong takeaway order. We got to the restaurant to find our order was still waiting for us. The first thing they did was to accuse us of removing something from the wrong order. This was an insult as it insinuated that we were thieves. They then realised that they had undercharged us by a small amount for the original order which we paid feeling rather aggrieved as it was their mistake and we were the ones doing all the running around.
