Alfriston Fish And Chips — Attraction in Manurewa

We've bought takeaways from this establishment for years now, but over the past 1-2 years they've gone from being a relatively nice, oil-less option for fish n chips to a nightmare. They don't use fresh ingredients, the chips the past 5 times have been borderline stale or stale, the burgers (Supreme, one of their nicest burgers) have those 5mm thick 10c patties, their hotdogs are typically undercooked, and the food is lukewarm most of the time. I would NOT recommend going here, Toby's which is 2 mins down the road is much much better, or you have the Gardens which are night and day difference, or Gold Coast Takeaways nearby which is kind of down the middle, although their burgers are...

The food is pretty good here, not fatty, not saturated - chips are always nice & crisp BUT they're pretty stoogee with the amount you get for the $ you pay.... Burgers are crap, honestly, don't even bother at all, - they were good & then went crap, stooged they decided to stooge out on the burger contents... Fish - i don't ever buy fish at a fish'n'chip shop - i prefer it fresh not frozen, - there is sometimes wet fish in the cabinet at a $$ !!!

Staff are always polite, i am a regular here, weekly... It's pretty busy/constantly patronized, so that's a good sign too. It also sells wet fish & some potted shell fish. Give it a go/try. Prices are pretty much average...

I am 69 years old and I would like say that I have had my fair share of FISH & CHIPS over the years and after FOUR different visits here I will ADMIT that they are ONE of the BEST For FRESHNESS , TASTE, GREASE FREE, and SERVICE . I go past SIX , fish & Chip shops to get here which includes ONE that is only 40 metres from my home and will CONTINUE to do so as long as the CURRENT OWNERS are still THERE
