CityFitness Lower Hutt — Attraction in North Island

I tried phoning back lower hutt branch coz I felt like i was being told off so i reviewed the conditions for black membership from their website. Unfortunately they never phoned back so im writing a review. This happened twice already and I cannot even tolerate this anymore. The first time i applied for membership, the receptionist wasnt accommodating at all. Then i received a phone call today telling me off that with black membership only me can use the after office hours facility. With black card members, you can pass on the card to a family and friend, But then i checked from the website it states there that a friend member is excluded from the after hours facility which is okay. But It was my husband who used it. A family member. So might aswell restate that families and friends are excluded from after hours facility. My fault was i dont hav the waiver i previously signed. But im expecting wat states on the waiver shud be the same as to what is promised on your website (Consumer Guarantee Act?). This is actually not that big of an issue, it’s the way i was told. This one really pissed me off instead of being grateful that we referred a friend (he applied for the membership already), the lady told me off again telling that my husband even brought a companion with him, where infact somebody from the reception let our friend in that time to try the gym out. I find them ungrateful. Cityfitness facilities are okay, its their people that suck. Maybe go to other branches next time like petone. But im definitely moving to lesmille even tho more expensive but treat you way much...

The situation with the changing rooms is atrocious. They were always a little dirty but still useable once you didnt need to use a bathroom cubicle but since they have started renovating them weeks ago there has been no real option for showers as the only shower for men was a cold portable shower in an unheated carpark, with no lockers or secure place to put your belongings and a glass door that opened straight out onto the street, allowing anyone to walk in and steal your belongings if you braved the cold showers. You would think that once the renovations are finished that it would improve but no, the men still have no washing facilities and instead the women have been given the mens room while the womens locker room is renovated, leaving men without showers for another couple of weeks.

It is not worth the membership fee to receive such poor treatment when a gym cannot offer something as basic as a warm, secure place to wash after a workout. The fact that the women do not have to put up with the same treatment really shows that CityFitness do not care about treating their members with equal dignity and have no minimum standards for service. I have cancelled my subscription and will be moving to a gym that cares about...

Honestly after going to city fitness in newlands for years, loving the environment and then coming to this gym; really unimpressed with your staff. The first day I came , I asked a male staff member about your cycle classes which he proceeded to say I have no idea and I just had to walk away? Shouldn’t you know that type of information if you work at reception? I let that slide and have continued to come back but this morning I got confused with a machine not having carabiner clip, asked a female staff member and just got laughed at with no help on how to get one on. I don’t care how stupid I look, I’m suppose to feel happy and comfortable when I come to the gym, everyone should no matter what level of fitness they have. I’m now coming out of this gym feeling like crap and it’s not even 7am yet. Won’t continue to come back except for the classes because Helen is fabulous and that’s the only reason I’ve given this place 2...
