Khandallah Pool — Local services in North Island

I went during school hours and had the pool to myself, but more people arrived after i had got out. The water may be freezing but the concrete surrounds trap solar heat so the air is warm. You can gaze up at the sky framed by beautiful green bush, it's magic! Bonus for bird nerds is a pair of NZ falcons which according to the pool staff have been in residence in the bush all summer. I love Khandallah Pool ❤️, it's the best place to go on a hot day if you're in the area. The entry fee is ridiculously cheap, or nothing if you're swimming with a child. There is sun into the late afternoon, and usually at least one shady spot. Note that the pool is unheated, which is bliss, and deep at one end. The sides are not vertical so getting out requires a bit more skill unless you're using...

Such a wonderful little space to go swimming and then just chill. I am really concerned to see the posters up hoping to save it, a wonderful community facility is just whats needed in places, to give families and teens a place to go to and keep occupied.
