Our total score: 80% A nice beach, great walks, heated pools and really close to restaurants and the Mt Maunganui CBD - but none of these are in the campsite itself. Kitchens and ablutions are renovated to a modern look. There are amazing views from many sites, especially the Pilot and Ocean areas. Internet and showers were not the best, pushing the button every 30 seconds for the shower and slow upload speeds with both Wifi and cellular connections. NOT SAFE. Keep that in mind. First time I had things stolen in a camping site. See my daughter crying in the Christmas Day to loose her Electrical Scooter was heartbreaking. Very disappointing. Don't bring anything to the site. We had our bike and electrical scooter stolen in the midnight. Even locked in a metal fence 1 meter away from our cabin's door. The burglar cutted the locker and took it. The cameras are useless and the staff in the front desk doesn't care about you. They didn't even want to check the cameras because they claimed it would take hours. Hundreds of people cross the camping site all the time coming from the tracks which makes the site very unsafe. That's why you need FOB for all the facilities access. There was also a cleaner vacuuming the facilities outside at 04:50 am with a very noisy vacuum. The kitchen and the cabin was clean. But very old fashion. The water temperature can not be adjusted and was too hot. Impossible to be under the shower. They need urgently to install more cameras and security guards. Location is good if the racer boys don't decide to bother you during your stay.

Don’t go here if you don’t like loud, crowded places. At night it gets really noisy with the boy racers using the street as their meeting point. We finally got some sleep around 2am. Amenities were ok, but that’s about it. You would think they made them a bit nicer when their rate is as high as 66 dollars a night for two adults and an infant. No playground and the harbour side where we got put on lacks any privacy at all. Sites are small and you basically sit at your neighbours’ table. When we complaint about it the next morning they told us that after all we were camping (we didn’t have any noise issues at all until now and we have been travelling for four weeks now) and we had to complain at the city council as the street is not their responsibility. Apparently they know about this problem, but somehow forgot to mention it when they checked us in the previous day. We got lured in by the location (close to Mount Maunganui) but will make sure to read the reviews now before checking in to any other campground. Lesson learnt!

I run a non for profit community , Sperm Donation New Zealand, which addresses the crises of the donor shortage in NZ. Upon rocking up to pay for accommodation the lady glances at my vehicle that has a magnet that mentions the community. She tells me its policy no magnets advertising? Ok weird stayed at a few sites so far everyone had no issues. So anyway take them off the vehicle. But then a man in a golf buggy kept stalking me every 20 minutes beelining straight to my vehicle everytime. So I looked up their website there was no policy about magnets on vehicles at all, just making up rules as they go, so I put it back up for old mate to come down to scared to talk to me and then I had a miss call from them, Won't be staying here again with shallow minded people monitoring it. First time in Nz I was made to feel uncomfortable.

Amazing location, close to the sea, Mount & wonderful Salt Water Hot Pools. Kitchen and bathrooms clean Vintage caravans need some maintenance, love and tidying up (there was an orange substance on the ceiling). Double mattress in caravan was far too short for an average sized adult. Kitchen and Shower-blocks absolutely freezing, no heating at all in wintry conditions. No clothes line option to naturally dry any clothes or towels except outside in the pouring rain - (Not everyone would like to use a dryer due to environmental reasons and not suitable for togs) Internet has to be paid for but does not meet any working standards for modern websites - it is far too slow. Small adjustments could make a real difference overall. Customer service was friendly though.

Now where do I start. Location or service or amenities. Location: I bet you will not find any better location than the beach front tent site. We camped right in front of the beach. A minutes walk. We did the hike which was stunning. The service is great. We were allowed to check out over an hour late as I misread the checkout time. A staff member was going around on a golf cart and he was very accommodating and knowledgeable and friendly. The community kitchen is clean. Thanks to all the patrons. The bathrooms are clean. I liked the security key fob to use the bathrooms. It is located in the heart of the city and handy all great outdoor areas. Bins available for recycling and general rubbish.
