The Strand Motel Apartments — Attraction in North Island

We just came home from a 4 night stay at this accommodation. The rooms have been renovated to a high standard, and were very clean. The location was fantastic, so close to the beach and local shops. Unfortunately the daily service lady made errors in both the rooms we were staying in. My boys and I had one room and my folks had another. She did things such as leaving other people's dirty tea towel in one of our rooms. Not a big deal.... However when we approached the owners about it, giving them our feedback, they threw it totally out of proportion. We got told our feedback was very petty, and we were expecting too much. Very very unprofessional of the owners. All they needed to say was that they were sorry we were unhappy with the service lady, and that they would ensure it wouldnt happen again. Sadly due to the owners over reaction to our feedback, as paying customers, we wouldn't stay again. Since placing this review the owner has been harassing us. He has rung me 3 times and has sent me a very nasty text. My Mother was never abusive, nor was she unreasonable when she spoke to the female owner. And as you say "the people in the room next to us heard our conversation" it would have been because you (Paul) stood on our doortstep and had a big argument with us. You have NEVER once apologised to us over this situation. Due to your arrogance and mistreatment, you totally ruined our stay over New Year. As hotel owners you both seriously need to take things more professionally. People pay for a service and when that isn't provided you need to simply apologise and do better, not cause a huge argument and then make up a whole lot of lies!!! We will not be recommending your accommodation to...

This motel and the owners other one the northgate also in new plymouth are filthy! Charging 170$ a night at the strand will see you get spiders, no human to welcome you just a little telephone screen to Skype on with the owners oh and Also as an added bonus you and your baby will get mice to share your unit with you....but don't fret after trying to phob you off the owners will offer you a unit exchange in their other motel the NORTHGATE which will set you back 210$ a night here you will get a spaghetti splattered microwave, blown lights oh and forget wanting coffee as this you can have with the week old coffee and the inch thick mold growing in the coffee pot. The owners said sorry ....KUDOS OWNERS...and yes did FINALLY offer another room BUT YOU FAILED to be hygienic vermin free hosts and to then expect a $50 cleaning fee be paid by us because as YOU said we had been in 2 units JUST RUDE!!! BEWARE as another review of these people sites blood spots on walls!! Just disgusting and rude and WRONG! a true let down to the people of new plymouth. Not the lasting impression a visitor should be left with. Ministry of health needs to investigate thank God we took...

So comfortable and clean. Its great to have room to move and some private outdoor space to enjoy. Staff are exeptional. The location is good. Traffic noise was kept to a minimum due to double glazing and high fence. The place has a stylish modern home feel with plenty of room. The addition of tvs in each room was an added bonus. Gave us some well needed down time. My only complaint was the location of the stove and lack of oven. It was messy trying to cook in one little corner but all it would need would be the shelf to be relocated to the otherside of the fridge. The laundry facilities are fantastic. We stayed and many places over our 17 day travels and to be allowed to borrow pegs, a clothes basket and airer may not seem like much to some but it was fantastic yo not have to put our clothes in the drier. This place was by far one of the bests places we stayed in. Its well run and exceptional. Thats why we extended our stay twice. Its the perfect...
