Unfortunately, my stay at this motel was very disappointing. The location is extremely inconvenient — it's right off a highway exit where right turns aren't allowed, so every time you leave, you have to take a long detour just to get back on track.
Noise is another major issue. The area is loud at night, with constant traffic sounds that make it hard to sleep. Inside the room, there was a strong musty odor from the wooden fixtures, and all night long, there were loud cracking sounds coming from the wood, which was very disruptive.
Cleanliness left much to be desired. The bedsheets and comforter were visibly dirty, and the bathroom clearly hadn't been properly cleaned — there was urine in the toilet that hadn't been flushed. To make matters worse, I found half a sausage in the mini fridge, presumably left behind by the previous guest. Completely unacceptable.
Overall, I cannot recommend this motel to anyone who values basic hygiene, comfort, or a good...
Read moreWe loved this motel. Firstly, I love Lockwoods, they just feel so lovely and warm. But more than that, the service from Kelly-Anne and David was just amazing. Sometimes you stay in a place and the service feels slightly forced, or that the smiles are painted on, but these two just made us feel so welcome. They are both lifelong Taranaki people and they know the place so well, giving you all the information you need. ||||The room was perfect for a couple and a child, and the beds were comfortable and cosy. The whole of NZ was caught in a terrible storm the weekend we stayed, and that seemed to make the rooms that much cosier. The weather didn't put a dampener on our weekend, we just did different things.||||If you want a beautifully clean, comfortable, welcoming place to stay in New Plymouth, this...
