I don’t like leaving negative reviews unless I get bad service somewhere but this review is more about the complaints and situations at City Fitness (I have been a member for years and this is the first time I feel like leaving this gym and to even think about speaking up)
Also I only gave a 3 star (would of been 1 based on my review reasons) because of the staff, I like the gym and how bright it is and I like a bunch of people here, they are awesome..
Firstly I want to say the staff are AMAZING!!! They try and keep the gym clean and safe for everyone to feel comfortable and it’s sad to see the negative reviews based on them doing their job! You are all grown adults so put your damn weights away, unrack the machines you use (sick or removing 8 20kg plates I didn’t use) wipe off your smelly sweat since half of you don’t shower or use deodorant!!
The amount of ego lifters is insane, they always smash the weights down and when you say something they don’t like it! But we say something because the machines keep breaking because of it!! Annoying!! It’s not hard to treat equipment with respect.
I film in the gym, not gonna lie but I film to watch my progress that I have made (it’s actually come along way and been beneficial for myself) I also crop it out as much as possible and focus on myself and be respectful of others! Common sense and courtesy.. but hey it’s perfectly ok to feel uncomfortable and creeped out by some men (and occasional woman) who just always stare every session!! Like staring to the degree when you look at them they don’t even try to smile or look away!! And then setting up right behind us while training and thinking that’s ok too! There’s enough space to be courteous of others.
Another big issue is when you’re training and someone comes up and interrupts you mid count to see how many sets you have left, it’s rude, why can’t you wait until the person has finished their set and then ask? Some even ask with such a rude attitude and like they are entitled and this makes us be rude back because we are sick of it!
Anyway it’s sad if we only pamper to the one lot of people (and enable the laziness and entitlement) and I actually like the management and staff at Cityfitness, as I said I’ve been a member for a long time but it’s disappointing to read the reviews and the reply’s… a staff member should be able to ask people to put things away, like I said we are all adults so come on!
Sorry one last thing… I have met some AMAZING people here, a lot of the regulars are the best and it will be sad to leave based on all these...
Read moreThis is the worst gym, the worst gym I’ve ever been to. I made the mistake of signing up without looking at reviews first etc, they don’t do a trial period because they’re so cheap but that’s the catch. They trap you into a 12 month contract and charge an early cancellation fee and you also have to give “4 weeks notice” so they can keep taking your money an extra four weeks.
The gym is always busy, there’s not enough equipment for the amount of members they have there. It’s ridiculous! But the worst part I Of my experience is…
One day I finished my workout and wanted to wash my hands, when I walked into the women’s bathroom there was an Indian man standing in there waiting. I had to yell at him and chase him out. When I reported it the staff, he said would go and talk to him. I never heard anything after that. They didn’t follow up with me to let me know anything. It obviously wasn’t a big deal to them that an Indian man was standing in the women’s bathroom where they shower etc!!! CRAZY!!
Honestly the worst gym. I wouldn’t do it if I were you. Just go pay the little bit extra somewhere else, it will be better than any city fitness I...
Read moreMoved from west to south Auckland and been with city fitness over 4 years. Expected it would be similar environment vibes but it’s totally other way around. There is no standard what it should be in the gym. It’s the same story every morning when I go to gym. It’s the same people using same / smith machines forever with their full camera setup to record them. No offence to them but looks like they been never informed or told to use the machine in efficient time and make a way for next person to use it.
I will finish my whole 1 hour workout and you will still see those people using the same machine / talking/ filming / and occasionally using them. I don’t know why somebody hasn’t raised this issue with the management.Since having just few smith machines it is hard to get access when people just sit their talking/ filming and not moving on to the next one. Even am not sure if it’s legal to film in the gym while other people still around, specially when it’s effecting other people workout and time.
I hope management will either add more machines or to make people aware to use them in...
