The Far North Museum is actually part of the Te Ahu Community Cultural Center, that also houses the library, social services, meeting rooms, and other resources. The building, opened in 2012, is beautiful and worth visiting for its own sake if you are nearby. Agree with other reviewers: the museum is well designed, with informative/interesting displays and exhibits. It bypasses some of the Maori-Pakeha (European) disputes and problems, which can be explored more at the Waitangi Treaty Center in Paihia. The Te Ahu staff were welcoming and very informative.
