Kauri Lodge Motel — Hotel in Te Hiku Community

Easy direct online booking on their website. We were running a little late for check in and phoned to enquire about late check in, and was pleased to know that front office opens until 9pm! Very friendly check in, who'd showed us to our room. We were delighted to find the place's immaculate cleanliness - ss sink benchtop so shiny and the sheets smelt wonderful. The bedding was very comfortable enabling us a great night's sleep. Shower pressure was decent, complete with adequate provision of good quality shampoo and soap. There is also an outdoor pool perfect for summer use. The location of the motel is so handy with 24 hour Mobil station just right next to it (across the road) and you could just walk straight into town along the road. Not far from i-site either....

This was my first visit to Kauri Lodge Motel & I won't be returning. We were greeted with a warm & friendly smile. Rooms were big, but I found the linen, not very clean. The shower knob was lower than me, I had to bend down to be under the shower. The place is old, not very clean. Grass around swimming pool very long. The bed linen needs to be replaced, mine was stained, didn't look clean. TV remote was sticky. Aircon units worked well. Enough TV channels to keep you busy. Rooms have Kettle, Coffee,Tea, etc. Wifi available in bedrooms. Loads of parking for cars. Around the corner from Restaurants & shops. My friend was in his own room & had the same issue as me with his room.

The rooms were cleaned daily, All visitors respected your privacy, Staff were friendly and helpful, Summertime is a better choice for stay overs. Meals can be bought locally and easily accessible, local transport minutes away.

Keep in mind, Going travelling either North or South as we did between Cape Reinga and The Bay of Islands, you have the privilege of returning to your rooms at the Kauri Lodge in Kaitaia with fresh bedding, towels and tea or coffee readily supplied.
