I took my two mokopunas here as they were on holiday from Auckland. What a lovely welcome from staff. One of my mokos (bailee) entered the matariki competition... she was so excited to be there. Anyway...she asked me.."when do I get my prize?" I explained that the winner is drawn an we don't know who will win. She replied "Oh, but nan, I'm gona be the winner". They left for Auckland the next day. Yesterday I received a call from the museum, a lovely lady explained that bailee had won the prize. Straight away I called bailee to let her know the good news...she was so happy. Oh, can I come next holidays nan? Yes, of cause. Please thank the lady...

Some quiz paper were handed out to my Niece to look for some answers by running around inside. Worth a visit even though it is small and you do pay a fee. Still recommend it. Staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Took some pics here and will see if I can post some of those. Will be back again. Highly recommend it, if you are around...

Super knowledgeable and friendly lady gave us a great talk & advice on what to see in town as well. Was amazing to learn what happened during the invasion of Waikato from a Maori perspective instead of the pakeha perspective we learned in school. Sobering and horrifying as well as inspirational at their courage...
