KFC is my jam and I love it, but have lately been slightly irked by the meals we have received from Te Awamutu.
I will ALWAYS ask for no breast pieces, in the hope to not get them and know the response will always be, sorry it is a set combo. I accept that! However, a set combo for a 10 piece meal is 2 of everything, but when you get 5 pieces of chicken wings and 1 of each other, that does not constitute a set combination!
The Family Feast is now $40...I'm willing to pay that, but get charged to swap out potato and gravy for just gravy. There is no difference in ingredient, OR work requirement to make this change. I am also aware there is a cost and still order it, so am happy to pay this cost...not so much happy, but accept it as a change of the organisation.
However, it becomes a problem when I get charged for changes and cannot change what I ACTUALLY would prefer in the combination, but receive a changed combination because KFC are being stingy on their pieces. This is not the first time and has occurred on a number of occasions and realise this when i get home.
Do I now need to wait in the drive through and go through my meal to ensure that what I receive is what is suggested it will be? A set combo? The lady at the window apologised I couldn't make the changes, where I had said if I am unable to change the combo set, could they make sure they stick to that as well then - a set combo! Get home and it's happened again! ...
Read moreThe most b.s kfc in all of NZ. Literally given this store a dozen chances out of desperation because there is no where else to eat in the evening here in Te Awamutu besides McDonald's and BK.
Poor service every single time. Wait times of 30mins and more are NORMAL here. They shut the restaurant for drive thru only and still 40min wait. Get to the counter and the number of times they have no wicked wings, no burgers, no this or that. You can blame covid for "delivery problems" but this has been happening even last year. I'm almost certain you just turn the fryers off earlier than you should to get out early and use rubbish excuses to cover up. When we would come at 9pm guaranteed no wicked wings even tho they close at 10pm. So we always come early now, well before 8pm and still never any wicked wings.
Manager refuses to give her name for follow up and says to sort it out with management because she only has 4 staff so here we are!
I have driven to Hamilton a few times now to get meals Te Awamutu didn't have without a hitch, no dramas at all. They always have ample stock and service is pleasant.
Customer service in TA is monotone, unfriendly and pretty much like yea, yea see ya later. They never care to hear the customers side. Blonde girl in particular is almost always rude.
I could go on and on about how poor this place is. Done with it well and truly. Ugh...

I am writing to suggest you get more staff - the hard workers you have were clearly rushed off their feet with no one left to cover backlog or maintain the restaurant.
Yesterday, Monday 6 October, my family and I went in for lunch at 1.00 pm. There was a 15 - 20 minute wait and only one family in front of us. There was only one person on the front check out (and we were in the lunch rush - many came in after us and had a very long wait). He was very polite and friendly, so no blame on him.
What we found most gruesome was the state of the eating area. Every table that was not being used was covered in the waste from previous families and the floor was a state. Even my 10 year old son said he didnt want to eat inside. It certainly ruins the experience. I went to go to the toilet but they were just too unclean.
I just feel that KFC has lost its touch with its customers - obvious cut backs on staff for better profits has a negative effect. Who wants to sit in a grimy restaurant??
We certainly will not be stopping here again. Hopefully someone follows this up, as it really is unsatisfactory.
