Galerías Santo Domingo is the best shopping mall in Nicaragua. It's sad to see how the general economic downturn in our country has affected the quality of this place. I was there recently to make some large printouts of plot plans. The best copy business for that has always been PBS, popularly known as Xerox. Their only printer that could make the copies I needed was out of service and they didn't know when it would be working again because they didn't have the spare part it needed. That was unheard of just a couple of years back. Then I went to the food court to grab a bite to eat. About half of the fast-food businesses were shut down. I did get a nice burrito from Ajúa Mexican food but when I went to sit at a table to eat it all the tables were dirty. I had to ask the clerk at Ajúa for paper towels and alcohol to wipe the table clean. Of course, not the clerk's fault but she didn't seem to care as she handed me the paper towels. Read moreA jewel in Managua. This mall is more upscale compared to others in the area. This mall offers many services, from pet grooming to language classes, gymnasium, cinema and high end shopping. There are about a dozen sit-down restaurants plus a food court. Parking garage with easy access to Carre. Masaya. I see a lot of security and the mall is within a gated area. There is a miniature train ride and Merry Go Round for children, along with a boutique fun-zone with a balloon cage. I recommend (if it's your first time) to plan for a long visit as there I'd plenty to do here; shopping, eating, watching movies, etc. As of this writing (July 16, 2021) they require masks but aren't too strict about it.
