The beds are amazing. Staff all are also. Shoutout to Chloe and Maryel for being the most friendly. Location is okay, sort of just past the edge of the good parts of town. Bathrooms and showers are great, with upmarket soap. All the beds have curtains, sockets, and are clean. The wifi doesn’t always work in the rooms though. Amazing rooftop - don’t overlook it. Has the best view of Oslo that I saw. NOT a complete kitchen - no stove or oven, cutting knives, pots, pans, peelers …in the capital city of the most expensive country in Europe. This forces guests to buy microwave rubbish from the grocery store. There’s no equipment to wash your own dishes, you just pile them up in a rack. But then they are sitting there all crusty for hours, and the kitchen runs out of plates spoons mugs and bowls, so you have to wash them anyway in order to use something. I’d prefer to just wash them from the get-go. Crazy system. Recycling is good though. Bad for working. Wifi cuts out every 20 mins for 30 seconds. Lack of sockets in the common area, which is also quite an echoey space. Worst of all was the daytime top 40 music which guests have no control over, and is a downer that ruins the vibe and the chance of more spirited social connections. It was irritating fellow guests and slightly tarring our experience of Oslo as it’s not comfortable or uplifting to be in or come back to. The quirky light jazz in the early morning and late night is an extremely nice touch though. Visually appealing spaces such as these seem to forget about the other senses - which happen to be those not involved in making a choice to book. A good grocery store is right next door, 7am-11pm, but closed on Sundays, and doesn’t sell alcohol any day after 6pm. The staff run wholesome social events try to break down the social walls of the space. I felt it would be more naturally social if it were a more normal place and a lot less “good”.

Pros - Unexpectedly, this was a very nice hostel. It wasn't the cheapest during my trip, but it sure was one of the best. Installations seem new, very well kept, clean, with very silent rooms. Stayed in a 10+ mixed bunk and I didn't notice the other guests, noises, smells, etc. The room is very big and the bed distribution makes them well apart from each other...probably that is one of the reasons it is so silent. It has several toilets and showers, very clean and nice, its a pleasure taking a shower there. Large common room with good facilities for the guests to network, cook, relax or party. Some weekly activities. That being said, it didn't seem like a high intensity, always partying kind of hostel, at least when I was there. Staff very nice and helpful. Last, but very nice, there was a supermarket neighbouring the hostel, which was perfect for meals and all. Cons - The room was too cold during the night, I guess the aircon was stuck in cold. The location is somewhat distant from the city centre, although you have plenty of trams and buses. The neighbourhood is not very busy in terms of turistic things, although there is 1 or 2 good cafes. Everything else was nice.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Bunks at Rode in Oslo! This charming spot blends the best of modern, comfortable accommodations with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The location is fantastic—right in the heart of Oslo, making it easy to explore everything the city has to offer. From the iconic sights to trendy cafes and shops, it’s all just a short walk away. The facilities are top-notch. The bunk beds are surprisingly spacious, clean, and comfortable, with plenty of privacy. The common areas are inviting, making it a great place to meet fellow travelers. The staff went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect, offering helpful recommendations and creating a friendly environment. The overall vibe of the place is relaxed and stylish, with unique touches that make you feel right at home. It’s the perfect spot for anyone looking for a mix of budget-friendly accommodation and great quality. I’ll definitely be returning the next time I’m in Oslo! Highly recommended!

The cleanest hostel I’ve ever stayed at. The whole theme of the dorm room for women was very cute. The staff was very friendly and the people at the hostel were kind and respectful. The water from the tap was delicious and they had a kettle and fast wifi. Incredible 360 rooftop view, too. Grocery store next door. Easy kiosks for check in & check out. Could not have asked for a better hostel - I was sad to leave.

Sociable on a Friday night, but equally very quiet in the dorms and got a fantastic 10 hours of sleep. I brought earplugs, which helped stop the noise of people coming in and out throughout the night as the dorms are quite big. I would recommend to bring your own shampoo and conditioner as the conditioner was empty during my stay. Check in was very easy and seamless with a self service machine.
