Going around in the city I found myself in this very interesting shop at the Oslo's harbour. I was just a little bit hungry and I've got curious to get in. Lots of Norwegian authentic food products are displays in different areas of the shop and there's also a cosy room with table and sits for many guests. Fresh shrimps, home made fish cakes, and the "Bræk's sneaks" were served today but "the menu is always variable" said Eirik, the owner, to me. I've got so deeply surprised to find such a good person, with a high grade of hospitality, a customer oriented mindset and that unique way to say "we fix" that is so extremely rare here in Norway! That mix of perfect attitude and the love for what you do automatically convincted me to stay for a beer and something to eat. I've got to taste a warm fiskekake with bread, butter and that good smell of fresh rosemary that made my day! Simple but delicious. Tasted also "the snacks" that are made by a roll filled with smoked salmon, salad and some dressing. What a great discover has been. If you also are looking for some incredibly tasty food and original Norwegian specialties without spending a fortune this is the right place to go....

Fenaknoken is a hidden gem where passion for Bavarian independent beer breweries takes center stage. The owner's knowledge adds a unique touch, guiding patrons through a diverse beer experience. The red wine from Pfalz, though sweet, found an unexpected harmony with the fantastic salmon and mussels.

The culinary journey continued with the Chef presenting a Norwegian "old cheese," a delightful surprise for the taste buds. And, of course, the lesson on opening Surströmming under water was both entertaining and educational (we did not eat, thankfully). Beyond the culinary delights, the warm and friendly hosting made the entire experience at Fenaknoken truly memorable. A place where expertise, flavors, and hospitality...

Our visit to this charming gourmet store near the fish market in Oslo was one of the highlights of our trip. The selection was outstanding—we picked up some of the freshest fish and beautifully crafted fish products, along with a wonderful variety of delicious local cheeses and other meat products. What made the experience truly special was the warmth and hospitality of the owner, who took the time to chat with me and my 6-year-old son — we both learned so much! He shared stories, explained where the products came from, and made us feel genuinely welcome. A memorable store and also a rich cultural experience. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates high-quality local food. We will definitely return next time we...

So glad I found this place. I was looking for an authentic exotic meat spot this weekend and came across Fenaknoken. They have everything you can think of - elk, reindeer, deer, lamb, salmon, fish cakes, and so much more. Definitely get the fresh dill salmon, homemade fish cakes, and the reindeer. Eirik was so accommodating and took me on a tour of the store, sliced up my salmon on a platter, and brought it out to me while having a friendly convo. It was a fun, pleasant experience and I would definitely come back!

Family run gourmet store and restaurant. . It was one of the most delicious restaurants in our Norway trip. Running by father & a son, they have passion on food and providing the top grade local produce from Norway. The shrimps were fresh, the marinated salmon was excellent. They also sold various kinds of sausages from different kind of meats from Norway. The owner was nice and told us a lot of information about Norway and their food. Loved this places so much.we had a wonderful time there. Highly recommend.
