Fun experience watching goats and cattle being sold. Got here by 6 am and there was plenty of parking around the fort and souq. There are a ton of tourists - I felt like we got in the way of the shoppers and bidders. At around 7:15-30 am the bid starts and everyone leaves a ring open while sellers bring their animals around. A unique experience and I am grateful that the Omani’s were so tolerant of all the hovering cameras and tourists (there seemed like more of us...

When in Oman, right!? Yes, check out this weekly event to get a truly energetic and fun experience. It starts early, and if you're driving, parking can be a nightmare, but the livestock auction in Nizwa is one of only a couple places in the world where tourists are allowed to be part this regional custom. Enjoy an early sunrise, see all the animals, chat with locals, and watch all the excitement.
