This place is a joke and very misleading. True that it is a historical site, but the room is tiny, not what is sold online. It is half of what they say you will get for the price you pay.
The Omani hospitality is ZERO in this place. You arrive and they don’t offer you anything, not even a smile! The Arabic receptionist is trying to sell you from the dinner buffet to other excursions but he does not focus on any customer service. If you don’t buy anything of what he offers, his mood changes automatically. He becomes not nice and he abruptly finishes the conversation.
We got the buffet for dinner, from 19:30 to 21:00. It was 6OR per person. We went to eat at 19:45 and ALL FOOD WAS COLD. The quality is good but everything is cold. The warmers do not work.
I suffer from food allergies and before buying the dinner buffet I enquired about the ingredients. The receptionist advised us that there were no nuts in the food but maybe there were some in the rice -he did not sound very convincing about anything I must say. He said the buffet was a typical Arabic food, from Greek salad to chicken tikka and pizza…- He also said the food is ordered and then delivered to the dinning area. When we went upstairs to have the buffet, I asked the waiter about my food allergy. The waiter could not understand the word ‘NUTS’ and he called someone over the radio. The same receptionist came upstairs and said quite abruptly ‘I said no nuts’
I must say this is the third hotel I have been in Oman, and never ever anyone has been so rude and the room so small. Avoid.
However, the next day we met Aziz, another receptionist who was very...
Read moreThe ultimate Omani hotel experience and example of fantastic Arabic hospitality! We would grant 6 stars 🌟, if available. The hotel is situated in an ancient building, in a traditional Omani house of the historic centre of Nizwa, one of the significant cities in the country's journey. The rooms are clean, air conditioned, but furnished in the traditional way.
The reception on arrival is according to old Omani standards; with coffee and dates. The breakfast is simple, but delicious, served on the rooftop terrace. WiFi coverage is reasonable, credit card 💳 payment is available recently.
The staff is really helpful and friendly, you can always have a decent chat at the reception. They are happy to advise regarding food/restaurants, souq or touristic hotspots.
Please keep in mind that the house is situated in the historic centre with narrow streets. A car parking area with limited capacity is available further down in the street, but bigger cars won't pass the bottleneck curves. The largest cars passing through with clapped in mirrors were a Ford Edge and a Toyota Forerunner. Bigger cars can be parked on several parking areas of the souq complex, the closest is at the fruit market. The easiest is to prepare a small luggage for the needs of your stay and to walk to the hotel from the large car parks.
The souq is situated in five minutes walking distance, the fort is 10 minutes away. There are plenty of restaurants and shops around.
We are definitely going to be returning customers of Antique Inn and can recommend it without...
Read more|This hotel exceeded my expectations. It was smack bang in the middle of the city, well located to walk to the Souqs, to the Fort and to wander amongst the ruins. |The hotel is like being in a museum. Lots of antiquities everywhere, hotel rooms and common rooms and our room, decorated in genuine Omanian style. |There were quite narrow and steep stairs to get up to our room, but our room was lovely, spacious, big separate bathroom, small separate lounge and large bedroom. |The pool was lovely and much needed as it was very hot.|The breakfast included was adequate and tasty.|Parking was easy right out the front and the grounds were pretty. |I would recommend this hotel without hesitation. |The only problem we had which we sorted was I hand washed a whole lot of clothing and asked my husband to take it down to reception and ask if there an outdoor area where he could having the wet washing rather than hang it around our room.|The man at reception said he would do it.|The next day I went to ask where the washing was, and I was presented a large bag of laundered and dried and folded washing and a hefty bill. It had gone to the laundry, and they wanted quite a lot of money for it- too much. As I had not asked for this, and they misunderstood what my husband asked for, and they had then used an outside laundromat, we split the cost of the laundry which was a reasonable and fair solution...
