Absolutely obsessed with this room! I decided to take a birthday trip back to Panama after having moved from there 30 years ago (as a kid) and was really worried about the changes as well as not being able to get around properly. The staff at Plaza Paitilla alleviated any of those worries. From the moment we checked in, I felt comfortable. There's valet parking ($3.50) so finding a space in a very hectic area was unnecessary. And it also allowed us to Uber to closer places. Kira, at the front desk, was kind and patient as we got situated. The attendant who took us up to the room, walked thru, turning on the lights to show us where they were along with opening the bay window curtains. It was truly something out of a movie. We were on the 17th floor and the view was breathtaking. You could see the bay and watch the tide rise and fall each day. Breakfast (7a-10a) was included with the room we got and there was plenty to choose from! Fruits, juices, coffee, breads, meats (chorizo, etc), and an assortment of Panamanian breakfast foods. This was 4 out of 5 but the variety and service made up for anything lacking in quality here. There's also hard water and I would endure it again for time here. As two solo women, we felt incredibly safe. The hotel is also fairly close to quite a few convenient stores and has a souvenir shop attached. I wanted reservations at a rooftop restaurant for my birthday (next day) and the wifi in my room wasn't letting the restaurant's site load reservations. I went down to concierge and they helped me determine the rooftop for the place we were going was only for cocktails. Kira was able to book the right reservations for me. On my birthday, there was an unexpected knock at the door. It was room service with a cake! Here I was thousands of miles from home and still feeling very much loved. This was such wonderful touch. This was truly the best experience I could have had. Thank you to everyone at Plaza Paitilla for being kind, patient, and genuinely caring humans

Some investigation reveals that this place was built in 1975 and once stood as the tallest building in Panama City for many years. You'd never guess that now as it stands surrounded by hotel and apartment blocks three times its height. Fortunately, it doesn't feel like it was built fifty years ago. I'm not one who is fussy about modernity but it is obvious the rooms have had a refit in recent times and are very comfortable and clean. Good beds, good water pressure in the shower and pretty good views from my room. The air con was fully functional but the mechanism on the outside is somewhat noisy. However, this won't matter at all as the wildlife outside during the hours before sunrise, create quite a cacophony which I've never heard in the UK. But I don't care, because that's what I want when I visit a foreign country; an attack on my senses. Moreover, the windows are floor to ceiling and full width of the room, providing a great view out onto the city. I had to use the pool a few times, as the temperatures in Panama are unlike anything I'm used to in the much cooler UK, and the pool is clean and clear. The food is also good here and there was a BBQ for Sunday lunch during the few days I was there. Breakfast choice is vast. And good quality. Most of the staff can speak a little English but it really helps if you make an effort to communicate in Spanish and even if you make a mess of it, you can all laugh and it breaks the ice. I guess I don't have anything negative to say and that's because there isn't anything negative to say. I enjoyed my three nights here and it helped me settle into the country before I set off to more remote regions after my stay.

Amazing hotel - I was going to wait until I left but this hotel deserves to be reviewed now - I had mixed feelings about staying at this hotel because of the mixed reviews that i read on trip advisor - A lot of people said the staffs attitude was rude, dismissive & poor - THAT IS NOT my experience - The stay so far has been good, the staff are friendly polite & so helpful - language has not been a problem or barrier. When I arrived I was suppose to stay for 2 nights & then go to another hotel BUT because of the excellent service received I extended my reservation. Check in was a breeze - very quick & no problems. I have to shout out Angie who checked us in, she is the best, very friendly and helpful. Room - 1815 is THE BEST ROOM - so spacious, clean & comfortable. Rooms are cleaned every day and fresh towels are provided daily. The house keeping staff are so friendly & polite especially inocencia she has been fabulous. Staff - Very friendly & polite & always happy to answer questions & help. Pooja needs an award, she went above and beyond to assist with any problems or questions I had, she was fantastic. Breakfast - lovely they have something for everyone, even if your fussy. Pool - they have a swimming pool on site which opens 7am to 7pm. Location - excellent as it’s central to everything & safe to walk around at night. This hotel is so thoughtful they gave me a cake and card in my birthday, which was really nice. I will be leaving a FULL review on trip advisor at the end of my stay, for more information please read my full review on trip advisor.

I chose this hotel for one reason: we wanted a room with a view. And a wonderful view it was indeed, we absolutely loved it! The position is handy, you can easily take an Uber to go anywhere in the city. Panama City is not really made for walking but we took some walks on the Paseo Cinta Costera, and it was lovely. The breakfast buffet is excellent! I'm not a big breakfast person so I particularly appreciated the big selection of fruit. But there's pretty much anything you may want to have for breakfast. The personnel is very courteous and kind. The hotel's decor is a bit worn out and would need redoing - but that would not be a problem if the place was kept sparkling clean. The reception and restaurant were ok, very clean, but the corridors and especially the room less so. I'd suggest better managing the housekeeping operations. But that was not a deal-breaker, the view compensated for many things. We had a lovely stay.

I am currently staying in this beautiful hotel. The location is perfect, the views spectacular and the staff has been all around incredibly kind and accomodating. I am traveling with my elderly parents and the entire staff has been so welcoming. Our large family here in Panama has been able join us for great breakfasts and lunches. Large groups can be difficult to manage and the staff here continues to greet us so graciously. Other memebers of our family were not so lucky and found themselves at another nearby hotel with horrible food, broken facilities and very rude staff. They have been very lucky to join us daily here at Plaza Paitilla Inn to escape their nightmare. I am so grateful to the staff here and thankful we made the best choice for our group. Our Panama family have been quite impressed as well. Thank You, Gracias and Merci for your wonderful hospitality. We will be back again and again!

I’ve stayed here now twice. Both times my company and I have experienced standoffish staff, a very clear lack of urgency/slow and an unsettling feeling that perhaps we weren’t welcomed. I have stayed all over the world and this place takes the prize here. We booked a second time more to give the place the benefit of the doubt and it was even worse. CAPEX-wise: Building is very tired needs lots of upkeep to bring it into this century… especially for a 4-star. Food lackluster and cold on delivery both times. What is cool is obviously the view - if you do choose here (when there are so many better options for a cheaper price point) do spend the extra for the skyline view rooms as it’s beautiful. Additionally there’s a cool history of the building too which I think makes it unique within the overall skyline.
