We were offered a combined ticket to the Copernicus Science Centre and the planetarium, recommended as a great experience for kids. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The first 25 minutes was a live lecture in Polish about zodiac signs and stars – no translation, despite being told English would be available during all the show. Even the local school kids around us were bored and noisy. Then came a film about aviation history – not space, planets, or rockets as we expected. The topic felt heavy, with a focus on war, and was not engaging for a 10-year-old. No one informed us that the content varies by session.
To make things worse, the environment was chaotic – the planetarium was filled with noisy teens, the seats reclined almost completely, and the kids behind us kept kicking our chairs. It was impossible to relax or enjoy the show. I even ended up with a headache by the end. I tried to ask them to calm down, but I only speak English and there was no supervising teacher nearby.
Overall, this was a disappointing experience. The event was poorly organized, not family-friendly, and not suitable for international visitors. I would strongly suggest the organizers consider separating school group visits from general admissions, or at least offering clear information about the nature of each show, including language availability and content. This could have been an educational and inspiring experience – instead, it was just...
Read moreThe Planetarium at the Copernicus Science Centre (Centrum Nauki Kopernik) in Warsaw is a truly immersive and cutting‑edge astronomy experience. Housed in its own striking, boulder‑shaped building along the Vistula River boulevards, it reopened after a full renovation in April 2025, unveiling a 16‑meter dome equipped with an advanced hybrid system featuring both Sony 4K digital projectors and traditional starball optics for stunning visuals .
Inside, 139–146 reclining seats surround you beneath a spherical screen projecting 20 million stars and space destinations. Each show begins with a live introduction (in Polish) followed by spectacular 2D or 3D films in various themes, from black holes to cosmic phenomena . English-language audio is available via headphone rental (ID required as deposit) .
Ticket prices are very reasonable—typically around 28–32 PLN for the Planetarium alone, or combined with the main Science Centre exhibits for around 65 PLN . Because school groups often book daytime shows, advance online reservation is strongly recommended .
Overall, the Planetarium blends top-tier technology, scientific storytelling, and visual grandeur. It offers both families and curious adults a memorable journey into the cosmos—one of the finest planetarium...
Read moreIt's pretty mediocre. Not really interesting; mostly aimed at kids, without any facts an adult interested in stars wouldn't know. Good visuals at time, but undermined by weak audio and a host who is doing his best, but again, aimed mostly at kids.
The animations of the planets / stars look like they were from 2000s, not 2020s.
TIME: It lasts for around 2 hours; you can leave the experience but then cannot return. No pee breaks. Food and drinks are NOT ALLOWED onsite.
COST: It's around 21 zł for a 2D star experience and 27 zł for a 3D experience (rarely done, as far as I've seen; mostly some short cinematics). These prices are for an adult. For kids it's around 5 zl cheaper, each.
OVERALL: As an adult, I can't really recommend it for other adults. If you want to bring your kids for a little fun...
