Restaurante Il Basilico Algarve — Restaurant in Albufeira

We ate here several times during our stay at PortoBay Falesia. The food is mostly good aside from the dreadful Caesar salad. Perhaps the worst Caesar we’ve ever had in our life. I’ve had grocery store Caesar salad kits that were better. We actually clarified if what they served us was the Caesar salad because it tasted like ranch dressing and was topped with bacon bits.

The service is incredibly inconsistent as well. Takes either 5 or 45 minutes to get a drink depending on the day. The key is ordering everything at once and asking for the check right when you order. Overall a decent place to eat lunch and get drinks by the pool. For dinner either go to the buffet in the main building or go somewhere else.

I had high expectations due to some youtubers and the Instagram account of the restaurant itself. Pasta was good but I had better pizza in town for less than 10euro. I’d recommend this restaurant if you’re nearby and wanna try a good italian restaurant. If you want real authentic italian food this is not it.

The view is exceptional but they didn’t allow is to eat on the terrace unfortunately. Service was ok, I mean its Europe, dont expect customers service like in America.

We had two really good evening meals here, much better than anything else we found in the area.

The beef with mushrooms and aubergine, and also the spaghetti nero were very good. There seemed to be plenty of selection for the kids. It was €17.50 for the steak when we visited, which was actually quite a lot cheaper than most of the other restaurants in Olhos d'Agua.

Tables inside perhaps didn't look quite so good, but ask at hotel reception a few days in advance and it is possible to book an outside table, even if you aren't a guest...
